Sony supported Betamax for 27 yrs...
OT: I've got a PSP and I guess I average about 1 new game for it every other month.

Not sure about PSP ending. They are doing pretty decent in Japan recently.

i dont think he means no support just less support than before. ie a year ago
nintendo fanboy, but the good kind
proud soldier of nintopia
even with level 5, SE announcements we've got about 8 good exclusive games from japanease developers for the next 1.5 years and agito that won't be out before 2010(plus 4-5 sonys games). and almost none western games.
i like japanease oriented games, but still i'm not guy that play every game i see - i like to have an option.
with ds i see at least 3-4 games i want from every genre.
with psp right now i see only tactic rpgs and MH-type-o games - i'm a little tired with those kind games on psp.
The PSP is in a similar position to consoles like the N64 and Gamecube at a similar point in their life, it will still have a handful of good games released for it until it is replaced (or dies on its own) but its best days are behind it ...
Realistically, it doesn't make sense for any publisher to devote a lot of resources to the PSP being that they can develop several Nintendo DS titles for the same price (or a Wii or PS2 title for the same cost) and see higher sales from those games.

I was under the impression we were talking about third party support, not first party. Resistance Retribution is a first party game.
Also there are plenty of big western games on the DS. One of the biggest just came out this Summer...Guitar Hero: On Tour.

Insomniac is not first party though.
And I talked about games that have to release, Guitar Hero is already released for more than a month now?

Nonsense, you're channelling Bruce Everiss here. The DS is far easier to pirate.
Considering the dying third party support and the fact that Apple has aimed squarely at the PSP market with the Iphone and Ipod Touch, how can Sony not release a follow up to the PSP within a year? Sony has no choice.
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Insomniac isn't making Resistance Retribution. Some studio called Sony Bend is making it. They're the same guys that do the Syphon Filter series on PSP. They ARE first party.
Relevant upcoming western third party DS releases are Sonic Chronicles, Spectrobes 2, Mushroom Men, My Sims Kingdom, Ninjatown, Touchmaster 2, Quantum of Solace, Tom Clancy's Endwar, Monster Lab, Ultimate Band, Call of Duty: World At War, Star Wars: The Clone Wars-Jedi Alliance, Shaun White Snowboarding, Guitar Hero: On Tour-Decades, Need of Speed Undercover, Moon, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Age of Empires Mythologies, Tony Hawk's Motion featuring Hue Pixel Painter, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, Gauntlet, Peggle, de Blob, Dragon's Lair, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, Secret Files: Tunguska, Skate It, and Warlords DS.
That's just what's on board for 2008. Here's what's in store(so far) for 2009.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Ghostbusters, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Fusion, Roogoo, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, Duke Nukem Trilogy, Overlord: Minions, and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction.
