I know some games have protected saves however I thought they were tied to the PSN ID, are they tied to the PS3 itself ?

I have to say I never back up my saves. I might have to do that. I cant imagine losing a few saves.

Sorry to hear your PS3 went YLOD. I always back up my saves regularly on a USB key when I make good progress in a game.
Hopefully all of the saves you're looking to get back will be transferrable to your new PS3. I know Uncharted 2 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 are copyable. If not, your old PS3 should be completely fixed right? So you should be able to finish those games on the old one.

I should definitely spend some money to get an external USB drive or something, so I can back up my PS3, but the new games coming out are so tempting. I am thinking of picking up God of War Collection sometime within the next two weeks or so.

I suppose your right that GTA IV should stay 4-stars because its just takes time, not insane amounts of skill like NGS2, Wipeout, SF4, etc, that make it nearly impossible to plat.

Then you could say that about Warhawk, if its just time for that how come hardly anyone has the plat?

Warhawk isn't hard so yeh it is just time, everything can be boosted, so thats not hard.

If you boost Warhawk over a consistent amount of time you will get your stats resets...( if the devs don't catch you, the veterans players will and report you to the devs, Warhawk tracks daily/weekly stats and if your stats are not within what is accepted as the possible norm, expect some surprises...

Some of the ribons/gold medals really aren't a piece of cake either.
And you can not boost on your own server, if you set your PS3 to host ranked games you can not play in those games... So to boost with someone you need to find a third guy that will set a ranked game server with the map and game mode you need and then hope noone else joins that server. Good luck doing that for all the ribons/medals...

Provided you manage to boost all the hard ribons/medals that way you will still need around 100 played days ( yes I'm talking 2400 hours) to reach general and boosting that part is hard( there was a glitch in early warhawk that is long gone) and you will get caught....
