@jboy that suxs iv had it twice since launch day but thankfully sony sent me my discs back that had got stuck.
maybe diffrent for you in america but here they gave me a new one for half price maybe sony america do something similar?????:|

Well my friend got the YLOD on his and they sent his cod4 back to him. He needs a ps3 for his girl so I'm gonna send him mine and he's gonna send it to Sony and send me Wolverine back...
A big question too... I had always prepared for the YLOD and i have saved all my game saes onto my PSP could I use those to continue my games and still get trophies or do I have to start all over? I know that you can't use other people's game saves but I'm not sure if you could do that???
What model was it, Jboy? I know a lot of people have had problems with the 60GB model...

Yeah I know that. But since I will be having a new ps3 my saved data for games won't be on it. I didn't finish Wolverine i was just a few trophies away including the dog tags and beating game on hard.. But i have the saved data that was on my old ps3 on my PSP. And i can transfer it from my PSP to a new ps3 but idk if i can still use that game save to collect trophies. Because my friend tried to download someone elses game save for Uncharted so he could get the trophies for all modes(Easy, normal etc) and when he beat the game it said "You have not earned a trophy" and it was because he used a different game save. I was wondering if I have to start over or use my game save to continue

If you have an external drive, just run the PS3 backup on your old one, and then load it onto the new PS3.
And the Konami code... everyone knows that one... you know, up up down down left right left right yada yada
