UK, September 22, 2008 - A Mass Effect movie steps closer to reality, with an option being taken up on the film by a senior Hollywood producer.

Variety is reporting that ex-Marvel CEO Avi Arad has taken up the rights to the film, and with his company Avi Arad Productions currently at work on the live-action version of anime classic Ghost in the Shell it would appear he certainly has the credentials to bring EA and BioWare's sci-fi RPG epic to the big screen.

Mass Effect joins many other games currently mooted to make the move to film, with a number of projects in various states of production. But how will the game's multi-faceted narrative make it to the big screen? And will that sex scene remain intact? I wish Mass Effect 2 would step closer to reality.

This would be a really good film

My only concern is how they would make the ending work. Who would live and who would die?

While it would be even more epic on the big screen, my gut feeling is that Mass Effect should just remain a game.
