Forums - Gaming - Gears of War is overrated

Yes, you heard me.  Gears of War is overrated.

  • The voice acting is laughable
  • The controls are awful
  • The weapon selection is weak
  • The single player campaign is about as fun as watching an inchworm move a mile
  • The AI fluctuates from Geniuses to Retards in the same difficulty
  • Cole Train is too much of a stereotype

With this said, anyone who thinks Gears of War is AAA needs to be beaten with a wooden bat til they can't feel any part of their body.

Let the flaming begin.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I actually agree, it is definitely overrated

The graphics were very impressive at the time of its release, but the gameplay was average and was salvaged by the chainsaw. The Co-Op is what kept me playing the game to the end and had me beat it more then once. The online was fun in short spurts.

At the time, (back in 2006) I liked Rainbow 6 a lot more

Duh.

Meh, people are entitled to their opinions. I hated Gears the first time I tried to play through it but ended up loving it when I came back to it a few months later.

Interesting enough I hated RE4 the first time I tried it on the Gamecube, though that was mainly because of the controls, and now I love it to death.

So are 99% of games that are praised all around the internet...

Former something....

It was poorly received by the PC community. Take that for what you will.

Personally, I found it to be the first compelling title on the 360 platform that actually made me consider picking one up.

Overrated? Given the hype; sure.

Short campaign? Yep.

Predictable "Epic" style character stereotypes? Double check.

Still enjoyable, and still one of the better looking games on the platform.

Sign me up for Gears 2.

It still won over 40 game of the year awards and sold over 5 million WW. Is it more over rated or over hyped than Killzone 1 or 2?

I'm the opposite, I loved the campaign on my first playthrough but hated it the second time around.

so is smash bros brawl.

don't believe 5.2 million people, random people on the internet know best.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
