Nah dude. The music was pretty fantastic in x-2, I'll wouldn't have suffered going through the game just once if not for those two reasons.

if ffxi had a relaunch and fixed things certain things and maybe gave it a graphics overhaul it would certainly give WoW a run for its money again. besides there are only 2-3 mobs that take 10+ hours to kill, and they are not mandatory to do so.

Yes I played it. It was excruciating in my opinion. I got to level 40, so no I didn't drop it after 20 hours. I couldn't stand to play it any further.

I understand how people like .. well I don't UNDERSTAND it , but I knoe that people like the combo system with the chain attacks and the partying is a different exp. from other games. but yeah when listing "certain things" like the graphical improvement (and I really, REALLY think someone should do a REAL comparisson to other games at the time, before firing back on this one). Another big TECHNICAL drawback was the fact that many things in the world were very large (file size) and load times were atrocious (at least in the begining when I played). My main bitchfest with this game were the aspects and elements in design that were what I would describe malicious and sado-masochistic even by the developers. DRM aside, I feel there was no way that certain things should have had the fail ratio that they did. Drop ratio was terrible. 200 xp cap -- Fn why?!? standard mob like a rabbit having comparable (or better given equip)stats to PC = Blashemy! The amount of time that the game required a player to do virtually ANYTHING was unrealistic. Which was why WoW developed so many things such as rest XP. They didn't want their players to have to slave over the game to advance. I could go on and on but I think I made my point. I don't want to impeed on the opinions that you guys have, you like it, fine thats great. I will respectfully say I will never understand why. To me I would rather stick needles in my own penis till it bleeds on a routine basis, because at least it would take less of my time than FFXI (and would be less painfull as well), but maybe thats just me.

everything you dislike about the game was fixed long ago....and i do mean long ago. but alas first impressions mean everything so someone like you would probably still have a bad taste in their mouth hence a relaunch would give this game the userbase it deserves, atleast 5 million

now i can easily bash WoW but that would most likely start in a flame war, given its more popular. but if you ever gave ffxi another run you would most likely love it.
