Forums - Gaming - I watched Force Unleashed as a 7 hour movie and thoroughly enjoyed it

At a friends house, over two days. He just bought it, and played it from midnight to 6 am before we were too tired and threw in the towel. Then we got up at noonish and he finished the last level.

I would actually say I enjoyed watching that more than any of the newer Star Wars movies. I played the demo and didn't think much of it, and when I was watching my friend play, it was obvious the force throw mechanics were wonky. On top of that, there were random glitches that would pop up, like he got stuck in a couple of places randomly, the game froze for ~5 seconds once, a boss disappeared in the middle of a fight and my friend had to kill himself to redo it, and at one point the level even stopped loading graphics, and my friend was climbing on invisible junk piles and fighting invisible enemies. Obviously this game's bad reviews weren't without justification.

But judging it as a movie, it didn't seem half bad. Graphics were a shade below what I expected but still great. The story would just need a few touch ups here and there (mostly the ending) and it'd be a solid action movie story/screenplay. I was surprised when I heard this game's story was supposed to be canon, but now I think it's fully deserved.

The action scenes were great, especially the ones at the end of boss fights. A couple of the fights themselves even had that cinematic feel. If the levels were a lot shorter, and the camera angles more cinematic, I'd say just watching someone play through it would be a solid movie experience.

Honestly, you sound like my brother, but for him it's RPGs though. The gameplay is so repetitive he says (I don't mind it), but usually the stories are always top-notch (with the obvious clichés, but still).

Hehe, also, I don't know why, but I enjoy watching speed runs of games with no-skippable cutscenes! =P

I still have to get my hands on this game. I enjoyed the demo, even with the little flaws, and your little review about the story is really tempting me to rent it next weekend.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
