Forums - General - Is this ad racist?

Contrasting between black men with dark colors and a white woman with light colors plays on race, but it will only have an effect on white voters who are racist to some degree (I would a large number) and they would probably vote for McCain anyway.

Around the Network

there is certainly something racist going on. but its definately not the ad.

"I like my steaks how i like my women.  Bloody and all over my face"

"Its like sex, but with a winner!"

that ad is not racist, Race does not play a significant role in that campaign (which is great)

Yeah, this ad is totally racist ... It plays off of the long standing stereotype of black men as being intelligent and powerful and using this power to exploit people ...

It wasn't racist until they displayed the terrified old white woman at the end. Then it became pretty racist

No it's not racist unless you have a very narrow mind and unable to think for yourself, although I'm sure they are trying to plant that thought in some peoples minds.

It looks a pretty weak arguement when the only way you can put someone down is by attacking someone they know using a quote from a newspaper rather than having the courage to state it is their parties opinion.

If what the post say turns out to be wrong they can just blame the paper.

ugh i hate it when they attack each other like this "obama isnt this, obama isnt that, obama isnt ready" just shut it and let people decide for themselves

I already saw this ad on Youtube and didn't even notice the skin color thing until it was pointed out. I guess it's a typical bleeding-heart kneejerk reaction to look for skin color.

Not racist at all IMO.

White woman? Isn't she a black woman in black and white? Like how Obama is in black and white in the end?

Either way... no....

I mean Obama's corrupt advisor is black, so....

Its not racist and using the white elderly woman does not make it racist either. Alot of white elderly women are seen as vulnerable, thats the angle they were coming from. They are more talking about the person's contributions and connections, it has nothing to do with race at all.
