I found this out accidentally. I Randomly pressed System update and 2.43 came up. I'm downloading now, Wonder what it does?

There's a thread on this somewhere. It's optional because it's mainly an update for Japan.

I recall it being about preparing the Japan PS store for the video service.

I hit system update yesterday, when I was about to play GT5: Prologue and it said an update is available.
I will just wait till Sony releases a mandatory update.
