Forums - General - The Global Food Crisis. Why is noone talking about it?

electricity is the solution for cars. Now we need new clean electricity generation and obviously less cars.

Check your states. i just wrote a news article on this. Ethanol is contributing to 75% of the price rise in grain stocks. Check UN food program etc

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Btw this shit is gonna get much worse as countries like mine, Australia, become less efficient at growing food for the world.
Our exports are way down, coz of draught, but why do u think that is?

I don't know what you mean by Check your states or what Ethanol contributing to the rise in grain stocks has to do with anything.

I mean... Ethanol being a driving force of the World Food Crisis comes directly from the UN... and WTO... or was it the WHO.  I don't really trust either of them... but the UN i don't think would like about the World Hunger Crisis.

stats, ethanol which is produced from grains is increasing the value of grain food on the world market.
If you can only afford rice and wheat has shot up in value bcoz 50% of it is used for biofuel then rice, becoming more popular and cheaper, becomes more valuable and expensive.

make sense?

Pure electric cars are (probably) not going to be practical for a long time, so plug-in hybrids are (probably) the best approach for now. Beyond that the question of what is meant by "Clean" electricity generation determines whether it is possible or not ...

No... i'm still not getting you.

Are you saying Ethanol is making rice cheaper or something?

Or did I have you wrong and your agreeing with me that Ethanol is a big problem.

If McCain was wise, he would use this as a reason to speak about farm subsidies.

I'm dying to see how the Chevy Volt does when it's released.

I'm sure GM will find some way to fuck it all up, but it's an interesting vehicle to keep an eye on.

yea i agree. Look i still can't believe climate change is an issue that both parties simply do not address in any serious fashion.

It would be nice if we could agree on what's causing it.

It's hard to take steps to fix something if no one can actually determine its cause.
