Forums - Sony - If I were Sony, my response to the 360 pricecuts would be...

i would beef it up..

1. backwards combat. like the old 60gig (pal) and 80gig (ntsc)

2. 320 or 500 gig harddrive. That would really get people going "wow" (value for your monehs)

naturally bundle with a title and a controller. Or two controllers (slightly more expencive pack)

so.. i would probably have 2 versions of the console.

400 us. 320 gigs backwards. 2usb no card reader. 1 controller and 1 game
500 us. 500 gigs backwards. 4usbs and card reader. 2 controllers and 1 game.

it wouldn't hit them very hard.

Either the above, or just reduce price a little.

How's this for a solution...nothing. No need.

Personally, I want them to drop the price, as that would kick me over the edge into buying one.

Logistically though I don't think they need to do anything yet, or even in the immediate future. Hurry up and wait, should be their approach for now and see what monthly impact the 360 price drop has.

If the 360 drop leads to increased 360 sales but does not cause a drop in PS3 sales (in other words the world wide diff. remains slight decreasing or even), then they can sit on their current price and wait to make any move.

If a monthly trend develops going into the Christmas season that would suggest PS3 buyers are purchasing the 360 instead (the WW difference is increasing at a moderate or increasing level) then they will have to do something I would think. They do not want to enter 2009 with low momentum and a higher WW deficit then they have now.

Personall I don't care because I already got mine. In fact, I actually used to get mad that people got to pay less for something I paid more for lol.

If I were Sony I woulndt do enything now.
Maybe at 2009

All interesting ideas. Just time to sit back and wait and see what sony does.

If sales drop for the ps3 or sales really pick up for the 360, I would simply bundle in Resistance. People get the game with the system, like it, buy the additional maps from PSN, and then go out and buy R2. Win all around.

Packing in an old game like Resistance 1 is not good enough to sell the console, They should pack in Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, and another free controller. They have HUGE competion with Gears of War 2 being on the shelves. They have to have some sort of compensation for it.

Bring back Full BC for the same price, I would buy another one.

Ditto I was ready to buy once until the yanked BC, now I am wait and see cause my kids still play there agng PS2 and it may go if it does I will need to buy a new PS2 and no PS3.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Ok, maybe not Resistance 1 old, but a game that has been on shelves for a little bit so that it is given second life by the bundling and has stuff on PSN for the people who like it to spend more money on is what I was getting at. Maybe Ratchet and Clank so that people would buy Quest for Booty or Warhawk for the couple of add ons.
