Forums - Sony - Technicolor adds 4 more Blu ray disc production lines in poland

Thomson's Technicolor Services Division has recently launched four Blu-ray production lines in their Warsaw, Poland facility. Even though these represent the company's first Blu-ray production lines in Europe, they are now the second largest producer of Blu-ray discs on the continent. The plant is currently set up to handle both BD-25 and BD-50 discs.

Robert Sweet, SVP of Technicolor Home Entertainment Services Europe, commented, "This significant investment in Blu-ray mastering and replication capacity will allow us to deliver this new format with maximum flexibility and efficiency for our key customers in Europe

And with some other news, we're having another $279 Bd player:

Memorex has announced that they will release their first Blu-ray Disc player this November. The player - the Memorex MVBD-2510 - will be BonusView compatible and feature decoding of Dolby TrueHD and bit streaming of DTS-HD Master Audio. The HDMI connection supports 1080p video at both 24p and 60p framerates, along with 7.1 channels of audio support.

For those without an HDMI capable receiver, the player includes 5.1 analog outs.

When the player hits store shelves this November, the manufacturers suggested retail price will be $279.
