Rumor: XBOX 360 gets Sirius on PS3

Just when you think Microsoft has pulled every trick out the book in atempts to win the Console Wars this quarter, it seems like Microsoft may have a couple of trick plays in there playbook. Read on after the jump

With the Winter shopping season approaching, all eyes are on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.  Both consoles seem to have big releases this quarter. The Playstation 3 has Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Socom and Motorstorm. XBOX 360 on the other hand has Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, Banjo-Kazooie and Lips. At first glance it may look like an even playing field this holiday season, well that was untill the XBOX 360 price drop.

The price drop already has taken a mighty blow to PS3, with XBOX sales doubling since the annoucment. This should have been the knockout punch delivered by Microsoft, but they kept swinging away at Sony with The New Xbox Live Experience. The New Xbox Live Experience is set to revolutionize Home Entertainment with a set of confirmed features. Avatars, LiveParty (Voice/Text chat with up to 8 people), Primetime gameshows, and Netflix Instant Queue.

With some more features to be announced in the coming weeks, rumors are already circulating about the mysterious Xbox event September 25th, with the possible announcement of a free Halo 3 map pack, preview of GTA IV DLC and the partnership with Sirius XM satelite radio. Rumor has it, you will be able to stream Sirius radio on your Xbox without any other hardware, while playing games. If this rumor is actually true, it will make the Xbox the best home entertainment deal out there. Does Playstation 3 have a chance after this possible holiday massacre?

That seems like it might be a decent idea, listen to Sirius while playing your games.

Yeah baby!

Very interesting especially that with the XM-Sirius merger, XBOX owners who are willing to pay 14$ a month will be able to enjoy the genius of the Ron and Fez show currently on XM 202 (12-3pm). :) (EDIT of course if you are already a Sirius subscriber, it will probably free.)

Woo, I'm a Sirius subscriber so if this is true it'll be good news for me :D

Completed X360:
High Def Movie Collection

Why so serious?

That's nice, it's not something I would use but it's a good options for customers to have.

yawn

I have a feeling that despite all of this, the PS3 is still going to tear the 360 into shreds, stomp on them, and feed them to an angry pack of wolves.

You do know that essentially, this guy is speaking about Dodece's thread which G4, Adam Sessler, and Microsoft all denied right?

EDIT - Also, 360 sales haven't doubled since the announcement, they doubled over the previous weekend when sales were low since the price drop was announced before that weekend.

Yep, that is why it has rumor in the title.  And isn't that what the majority of threads on these forums are?  Absurd speculation.

Major Nelson made fun of the rumor on one of his podcasts as well.  I laughed.
