Forums - Microsoft - New Xbox Originals: Destroy All Humans and Intellivision Lives!

No one posted about this, as everyone seems so concerned about the Euro price drop.

At any rate, Destroy All Humans and Intellivision Lives! are now available on Xbox Live for 1200 Microsoft Points.

To me, the most interesting news is Intellivision Lives. We've heard so many times that XBLA and VC have killed the whole compilation industry, but that seems to NOT be the case.

Intellivision Lives comes with 60 games, which works out (in USD) to 25 cents per Intellivision game - a far cry from the $5 and $10 XBLA remakes and ports we've seen, and similar prices for VC titles. I welcome this, as it means that someday, we may get a Sega compilation between all formats, and similar (Namco Museum).

most of the 5 dollar games have improvements or apply to games that don't suck ass, like sonic. Not these trash games.

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.

Namco already has a compilation coming out for the 360 on disc which will included most of the XBLA releases(minus Galaga Legions) plus plenty of new ones.

This is yet another example about how Microsoft is making 3rd parties like its platform.

Allow 3rd parties to continually make revenue even from an outdated software they made several years ago and don't want to redo for this platform.

Repackaged as "XBox Originals", all these really are is digital distribution of old games... Brilliant! All the power to Microsoft for helping 3rd parties and making the 360 library look even bigger.

Oh, I know that Namco is still doing hard-disc compilations. But this does set a digital precident: Rather than piecemeal every game out that are old and a joke (looking at Namco XBLA games) for $5, companies are still given the chance, and are taking it, to offer digital versions of said compilations.

What happens if we see Capcom do a digital Mega Man collection of #1-9 in the future? That's the kind of thing I'd love to see :)

you could say the exact same thing about the Nintendo Virtual Console who has a backlog much bigger than this. And also Sony offers the oppurtunity to rerelease PS1 games plus full ps3 titles like NFL Headcoach, Burnout Paradise, Fatal Inertia, I think its safe to say the Microsoft is outstripped when it comes to distribution options.
