Mendicate Bias said: I seriously don't understand. All I hear from Europeans is how much their pissed off at the gaming companies for giving them the shaft when it comes to pricing and when one of those companies finally does the fair thing and equalizes the price of its console in all world regions Sony fans start screaming about desperation. Shouldn't you finally be happy your not being screwed over in the pricing department?!
I know how bad it is over there, I went to Ireland over the summer. The amount you pay for a Wii there is more than I pay for a 360 Elite over here in the States! You should be demanding that Sony and Nintendo adjust their prices to account for different currencies! |
You don't understand because you believe your own BS.
You are hearing no europeans saying they are pissed off at the gaming companies for giving them the shaft when it comes to pricing. This is a plain lie, these complaints come from people outside of Europe, most often USA people that seem to have problems understanding that taxes are included in the prices we pay, along with yes, some price premium.
Europeans mostly complain that they don't even get all the games USA is getting, Japan notwithstanding, and that they get them later.
If you believe MS does the price cut to "equalizes the price of its console in all world regions", then obviously you are in denial like nearly every XB360 defender in this thread. I'm amazed at the amount of denial BS excuses people can put out.
This move more looks like a fire sale. Strangely enough, I haven't yet seen one single of the people that said before that the Wii was selling well first because of price. Looks like some sense must have come into them. But magically, they seem to think that the reason a console sell doesn't apply to the XB360. Seems like the console will sell just because it's cheaper! So these people in denial are still there, they just changed their tune a little.
One of the most laughable statement I saw was someone saying that if a kid said to his mom he wanted a XB360 OR a PS3 OR a Wii, the mom would go for the cheaper XB360 by default. This must be a USA trait that clearly doesn't exist in Europe: europeans don't buy sth just because it's cheaper, they buy what has the more value in their eyes, provided it's at a right price for its value.
Given the XB360 value which is pretty clear in my eye, when you see its big (1st party) games, which are all shooters, and this Christmas, their biggest game is... a shooter, clearly, I don't see the price cut having any lasting effect.
The excuses are the worst in this thread. MS couldn't do anything but lower price? So it's an admission that they can't innovate, and that they can't change direction as easily as some believed. They're stuck in their old ways since the start. That's why I always believed they could never compete with the Wii, and why I even called Malstrom on it, when he said MS could counter attack this year: I was sure they couldn't.
Besides, RRoD was a key thing to fix before even too many XB360 were sold. The value of the console is so much decreased because of this that it isn't even funny. Only fanboys can believe that people will stand such an annoyance for games. Especially newcomers won't come to a console that is not even reliable.
Yes, I know lots of MS astroturfers or shills will come and tell me that the XB360 is now reliable. Unfortunately, I know MS tactics far too well to be fooled: if you repeat a lie enough, people will start to believe it. I won't.
The XB360 is still an unreliable console, and until there is some drastic statement and action from MS to assure people that it is reliable, the perception will stay that it breaks all over the place. Drastic would be some sort of assurance, like refunding money if it breaks.
