Well, apparently the McCain camp could not agree on economic measures, so you are safe Jackson.

Christopher Hitchens who used to be far left, and is now far right says: "Vote for Obama"

http://www.slate.com/id/2202163/

Vote for Obama
McCain lacks the character and temperament to be president. And Palin is simply a disgrace.

"...In later years, I had little cause to revise my view that Bill Clinton's abysmal character was such as to be a "game changer" in itself, at least as important as his claim to be a "new Democrat." To summarize what little I learned from all this: A candidate may well change his or her position on, say, universal health care or Bosnia. But he or she cannot change the fact—if it happens to be a fact—that he or she is a pathological liar, or a dimwit, or a proud ignoramus. And even in the short run, this must and will tell."

"...It therefore seems to me that the Republican Party has invited not just defeat but discredit this year, and that both its nominees for the highest offices in the land should be decisively repudiated, along with any senators, congressmen, and governors who endorse them."

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

The huge rally in the stock market today could play to McCain's favor. It may ease some concerns about the economy, even though the crisis is far from over.

McCain is running out of time!

Today's good market news could help McCain IF the market stays good for a prolonged period of time.  But even so, once people are spooked, they stay spooked for months.  Retailers are already making conservative estimates for this holiday season.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I would never have imagined that either of the candidates would have gotten this far.

I think that's the key now. If the markets think consumers are going to pull on spending then I believe the markets won't rally much past 11k and then fall back into the 10k range. I still think it's an Obama win if the market is in the 10k range on Nov. 4th.

steven787: CO is not "Leaning"!

Wow... Florida is now leaning Obama. Let's see if he can hold onto that.

He's like a rock. I changed my mind. I said, "elections aren't won, they're lost."

I was wrong.

“We will all need to sacrifice, and we will all need to pull our weight because now more than ever, we are all in this together.  What this crisis has taught us is that at the end of the day, there is no real separation between Main Street and Wall Street. There is only the road we’re traveling on as Americans, and we will rise or fall on that journey as one nation, as one people.”

Lenin said the same thing, Steve.  Also, look for sampling bias in MSM polling.
