McCain gave up on Michigan!

He's going after Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maine, oh my!

WTF Maine?  He has a better chance going after Nevada and Michigan than Maine (at least he is doing better in the polls there)?  Its only worth four electoral votes too!  Unwise move McCain.

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. We need bigjon or Halogamer here to spin this. Cause otherwise this election is over.

I expected this slight increase in support for Obama. Prospective voters have consistently felt Obama was better able to handle the economy than McCain. With the recent negative economic news, it only makes sense that support for Obama would increase. With that being said, never count McCain out.

It will be interesting to see the effect of the debate over the next few days.... most polls have Biden doing much better, including among undecideds... but then again Palin did beat expectations...

I really hope Palin "not looking like a total idiot" doesn't give McCain a boost, lol. I mean while she didn't do as bad as she did in interviews, she proved she was unable to respond with anything other than predetermined responses. This may have flown back in 2000, and I would have picked her over Bush, but right now America is in too much trouble to entertain this clueless woman.

She seems nice, and I see she is trying, but it is just going to take someone better than her. McCain really should have picked a more experienced candidate, but i guess he didnt see this crisis coming

2 new New Hampshire polls show the state has shifted towards the blue end of the spectrum. It was dangerously close to Red before:

New Hampshire

Rasmussen 10/01 - 10/01 700 LV 53 43 Obama +10
St. Anselm/SRBI 09/25 - 09/30 823 LV 49 37 Obama +12
Research 2000 09/22 - 09/24 600 LV 48 44 Obama +4
Strategic Vision (R) 09/22 - 09/24 800 LV 46 45 Obama +1
7News/Suffolk 09/20 - 09/24 600 LV 46 45 Obama +1

New MN poll showing +1 McCain. I wonder what the rest that come in will say. The analysis basically said more people looking at 3rd parties in mn. So maybe it will shift back.

I'm waiting for the big bounce McCain might get after the VP debate.
