I was playing madden 09 about a week ago and my 360 ended the game and shut  off and 3 red rings popped up. so i quickly shut off my system and wait a min or so and turned it back on. It worked fine. Its now been a week and everything is still working fine. I was just wondering why this was and what happened?

Also i bought my 360 when it first came out the hard drive is 12 gb so its an old system and nothing like this has happened to me before.

3 red rings can mean multiple things. When the 3 red rings are lit up, this signifies that there is a general system failure. In most cases it is from overheating, but there are other things that it could possibly be from as well.

3 rings is a generic hardware system problem. It could also be a power issue. I've had the power flicker at the house before and a system get the 3 rings. Turning it off then back on made them go away. It's not ALWAYS a reason to panic ;)

something with the power... i had that happen about a month ago, havent had another issue since.

About a week after I first bought my 360 Elite sometime at the beginning of last year, I got the 3 red lights AKA RROD as well. I did the same thing - turned it off, waited maybe 5 minutes, turned it back on, and haven't had the problem since.

I think I heard it say, "Bitch, don't get comfy over there, I can own you at any time!" but I can't be sure.

I had the same problem last night but it's fine now. I think my 360 was calling out to its brethren for revenge on fellow gamers.

I too had the 3 red lights light up on the front once cause of a power surge. I just unplugged and waited a few minuets, and its fine now. I have a Feb 2008 (Falcon) 360.
