Forums - General - Obama... Man Were We All Fooled...

He spent the first 3 years of his campaign telling us how we should elect him because he is "different" than the rest. I saw this early on and it intrigued me. Back in March or so I was actually leaning towards Obama because he really did seem different. But, then once he came under fire his true colors have shown. He is now going around calling every person a liar regardless of the facts.

1. He called a Palin a liar for saying she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere.

The Truth- She was for it until when it came to her desk, she decided that is not what people wanted and sent the money to more pressing needs. Again calling her an outright liar was so uncalled for.

2. He called McCain a liar for the Pig Lipstick thing.

The Truth- "From McCain" Obama is very careful about the words he chooses, and he knew what he was saying. Palin joke had been already well inudated. Obama was at least playing off of her joke in a mocking way. If he did not, he dumber than we think he is (douptful- he is really bright). Again calling people a liar is completely irresponsible.

3. Palin did ask for earmarks as Governer.

The Truth- She accepted them as Governer for research and infastructure and such. As mayor she asked for them, but she never ever said she did not get them, and said nothing about her mayorship. However, I believe they should have been more direct because the political spin is misleading. But they did not outright LIE as Obama claims.

4. McCain Campaign Add Acuses Obama of supporting Sex-Ed for Kinderergarden. Obama says they are lying through their teeth.

The Truth- Obama is lying through his teeth about NOT supporting it. I have seen the bill which he pushed through the Illinios State senate which specifically calls for Sex-ed for Kindergarden. Also, I heard a clip of him saying sex-ed for kindergarden was "the right thing to do". Talking about the pot calling the kettle black.

Obama is tarnishing his Image as the "Different" politician every time he opens his mouth. He is now calling McCain sleazy, and dishonest. I have gone from liking him as a person to almost detesting him. From the comparisons to Jesus (comunity organizer) to crying like a 8 year old to his momma when people are picking on him.  He makes me sick.

But he's still better than the alternative. All politicians are liars; some of them have bad ideas too. When you get a choice of two lying, manipulating, corrupt candidates, pick the one who at least claims to have policies you agree with.

If you agree in principle with what Bush was doing, then vote Republican. If not, then vote Democrat. It's very simple - both outcomes will be bad, but one has a slight chance of being better. Even if McCain is anti-Bush (I doubt it), his presidency will strengthen the Republican Party - who ARE following Bush's ideaology.

He's not white?!

Politicians... just choose the better of two evils and happily go on with your life.

Palin: I said thanks, but no thanks to the bridge to nowhere!

Obama: Actually, you fought for that bridge and received a lot of money for it, only to back down when it became a national embarrassment, while still keeping the federal funding you'd received. Saying you opposed the bridge is a lie.

Palin: That's not true! In reality I only fought for that bridge and received a lot of money for it, only to back down when it became a national embarrassment, while still keeping the federal funding I'd received. Saying that I lied about opposing the bridge is a lie! You're a liar Obama!

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

The funny thing is that McCain does not really like Bush AT ALL. Did you follow the 2000 primaries? Yea. He almost left the repulican party over bush.

Obama mantra about McCain = Bush is really annoying.

If Obama's theory is that if Bush beleived it, it was wrong. Most of Bush's ideas on Education and the such were never even implemented because of the Democratic philibusters and congress.

The whole 90/10 thing is a load of crap. Obama wants to paint himself as Bipartison, but yet he towed the party line closer than any other Democrat. 97% of the time he voted alone party lines.

That is not how it happened. The Thanks but No thanks line was rhetoric, She did not lie in that statement. Also, she did respond to Obama in the childish way that he attacked here.

Stof, aren't you from Canada? I was just wondering if people followed American politics much up there.

Glad to see someone is proclaiming the truth without citing a single source.

Many politicians have used the lipstick on a pig expression, including McCain. And McCain has misrepresented a lot of Obama's policies, such that he will raise taxes on the majority of Americans, which is just untrue. He will cut most people's taxes.

I'm sorry, but Palin did do all the Bridge to Nowhere stuff he claims. There have been a plethora of sites that have confirmed this.

In politics, spinning an issue is a polite way of lying, hence their stance on earmarks. Palin for instance says she would not meet with lobbyists in her office, but had no problem meeting with them for lunch or elsewhere.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I'm not an expert on a lot of this stuff so I usually keep my mouth shut in political debates so I don't say something completely wrong but you're making it easy enough for me to jump in.

1.  She is an outright liar.  She said she told Congress "thanks but no thanks" as if she realized it was wasteful spending but the only reason she turned against it is because Congress said she would have to pay for it.  If national money still went towards it she would be all for it.  She wasn't even "for it before she was against it" she was "for it until she realized she had to pay for it herself".

3.  They did outright lie.  It doesn't matter what she accepted them for.  They have built "no to earmarks" as one of their campaign slogans and it's downright dishonest to continue to say so when she asked for many.  Call it "misleading political spin" when it's your guys but if it was Obama it would be an outright lie to you.

4.  Did you even read what those "sex ed" bills were about?  Obama wasn't trying to teach little kids about sex, he was trying to put into place programs to help warn kids about sexual predators.  Technically it's a form of education about sex but the context is completely different.  The whole ad with the creepy music and smiling Obama is trying to make him out as a deviant or predator himself which is quite low.

Don't feed Bigjon. This is exactly what he wants. No sense arguing the points either, he's so politically biased it's a damned shame. :(.
