Since this is the "megathread" I'll post that apparently there are 20 free DLC songs you get for buying Rock Band 2. They aren't up yet but there is a code in the manual.
So 104 songs for the game. Sounds good to me!

Wow. Another exclusive AAA game for the Xbox 360.
At least for a little while.......
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
I never understood why people liked this and GH so much, I can see the casual appeal and I would maybe buy 1 for some play every now and then, but I have a friend that used to get drunk and play this every weekend, he spent God knows how much money on DLC on XBL and his friend bought not 1, but 2 RockBand packages for the 360 in order to be able to have Rockband face off or whatever...
All the Metacritic ratings will be like SSBB & GTAIV. Full-on praise in the beginning at the top of the charts, followed by chewing-out and bitching that will lower down it's scores.
BTW, reviewers seem to have a bias towards Rock Band and against Guitar Hero... you will see it next month...

It's the next-generation "party" game. It's one of the funnest games to get 4 people to play along with. I have Rock Band (plus about 20-odd DLC songs) that I use for a post-Football party called 5th quarter at the church I pastor at. When we have Rock Band (as opposed to Halo or Madden), it's frequented by both genders quite evenly, and is far more watcher-friendly than most other party games (like a SSBB or Halo).
It's honestly not that awesome with 1 person, but when you get 4 competent Rock Band-ers, it makes for a fantastic experience. And since Rock Band has far more available content than Guitar Hero, and most of it is optional, allows you to get songs you, and your friends, want to play.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
I got the game a while ago and the World Tour mode with bands is just fantastically laid out. You can create a band locally play some World Tour, then if you decide you want to play with someone else, you can search for people to fill in slots and continue your World Tour. Works fantastically.
I really like the Battle of the Bands challenges. We played against a few people on our friends list. I need to add more people with bands to play against to my list :D
I'll second JaggedSac's statement about the band layout. The original could be annoying sometimes trying to get everybody signed in and ready to play. There would always be somebody wailing on the drums or something to sign somebody out and make it a pain.
I also like the way they added high score lists to the song list.
About my only complaint so far would be that the song choices are a little limited at the beginning of the tour. I was wanting to play some higher difficulty songs but had to weed through a lot of simple stuff first to get a challenge. Having a lot of DLC helped though.
