OK I'm in a debate with my co-workers over the invention of "peanut-butter".

I remember doing research in high-school where I found that Canadian Patents for peanut paste had already exsisted before Kellog filed his patent for processing peanut butter, but because the US Patent office didn't recognize foriegn patents in contention . yada yada yada.  Point is I am trying to look up the Canadian patents from 1858 if I remember correctly for what I think was called peanut paste.

   Can you guys help me out here?  I love to prove my fellow Americans wrong.

Doesnt Kellogs make cereal O_o

The brothers Kellog made many different confections, Cereal bieng the most promonent, in the interest of bieng able to feed patients in Sanatariums who were unable to consume solid food.
