Forums - Gaming - Capcom announces new strategy in annual report.

This is really dissapointing, anytime multiplatform is the key word the Wii usually gets the short end of the stick or at the very least the later consideration. Capcom is really dropping the ball this generation. I've lost so much faith in these clueless dolts.

Their cowardly initiative, ignorance and lack of forsight has shot them in dick so many times, first banking on the Dreamcast, then banking on the Gamecube, then banking on the PSP then banking on HD gaming. These idiots are such pathetic market followers and they can't even do that right. This generation has been nothing but one fiasco after another for Capcomand in the end they always make these kind of announcements in such a self-righteous arrogant tone too.

Between having lost the bulk of their genius when Clover left to now being forced to rehash old as hell NES franchises just to make a quick buck I don't know what shows more signs of worry. Maybe if they hadn't devoted the lion share of their resources to this Spruce Goose of a Game RE5 for the last four years they wouldn't be in such a predicament. Or better yet, maybe if they hadn't over booked their development teams upwards of three years in queue they wouldn't be in this mess!

They rushed head long into an unproven market strategy, put all thier resources into it and after it's too late realize they've messed up and panic resulting in asshat announcements like this. Of course, god forbid they ever admit they made a mistake or try to put the integrity of their games first.

first of all they are talking only about hd twins and pc not wii - it means that all capcom games that will be announced for ps360pc will be multiplat not that every wii game will be a spinoff/crappy version of ps360 game.

and about casual sports games - if they will be as good as pes2008 then why not.

I take three things out of this statement.

1. There is now a bigger chance that a game for PS3/360 will appear on the wii if possible since they clearly are trying to maximise their profitability.

2. Wii games are more likely to stay exclusive and we will get more of excusivity.

3 They will as other gaming companies capitalise on the caasuals and make more money through them.

This for me is good news since capcom will never let their major franchises die but they will still make money from the new audience which in turn will result in other games that may or may not be for the casual market.

This is a win for all gamers casuals, core & hardcore.

This is because the wii is vastly different from all other home platforms this gen. That has its positives and negatives. You've been enjoying the positives. This is part of the package as well.

Wii has sold 3 times as much as the PS3, and MH series is extremely popular in Japan it will sell loads. Maybe this time the HD Twins will get some sort of spin-off.  And porting non-hd game wouldnt make sense

As for the OP, Capcom wont abandon the Wii the games they have released proved to be successful RE4, RE:UC, Zack&Wiki (For this type of game with its development costs) i dont think they believe that their products cant sell on Nintendo console, big players: EA and Activision know in order to be successful they have to support the most popular console, and with MH3 and DR (if improves) Capcom is doing just that.

I think they talk about Multiplats between PS3 and the 360 like they did with DMC ,Wii separately will get it's exclusives from Capcom like some sort of RE Game.

The only thing I could assess out of the company's PDF is that it oddly looks like they're making a neat, tidy package for a buyout. Imagine one of the big 3 buying and owning Capcom and all its IP? That could be insane. Of the batch, I could see Sony needing/wanting it most. Of course, if Nintendo went out and make that grab, the amount of IPs in their library would be absolutely insane.

With Capcom -- as Rol said -- who knows.

But I think, at least from my take on it, that "multiplatform" is broader than videogames.

The full strategy appears to be "Single Content X Multiple Uses.".

To me, it seems the idea is to get more than just a game for one platform for a single idea. Thus, they would want to see a console game, anime (video and magazine forms), handheld game, cell phone game, action figures, etc.

It is easy to see how using partial information people can unintentionally (or intentionally) misinterpret this. And I will admit that I may have it wrong too.

But I think it means for the Wii no Zack & Wiki 2 but games like Monster Hunter (handheld, cellphone) and Spyborgs (anime and handheld potential) will continue.

"Relax.

I think the materials pretty much speak for themselves and we're continuing to support all consoles with appropriate content. It just means things that in the past would have been timed exclusives to a single platform will no longer be exclusive to a single platform.

It's just better business decisions at play. I don't think fans have anything to worry about.

That said, I know nothing I say will keep people from freaking out, screaming "the sky is falling, OMG!" So feel free to carry on assuming the worst. I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised if you do so.

And your fury didn't break the forums... our team did while working on some upgrades. As you might notice we're making some improvements here (slowly but surely). I'm sure the quote button will be fixed shortly."

That was posted by Sven. I won't worry to much.

All announced titles will be finished on the platforms they are on now. So MH3 will stay exclusive, and so will RE5 on PS360.

What I got out of this Capcom "statement" was that the casual sports stuff will be Wii/DS. They'll try ONE or TWO 360/PS3/PSP "casual" games and see how they fare.
