It will be supported as a low end console along-side the nextbox (Project Phoenix) for 2 years at least.  It makes sense as Atari, Nintendo, Sega, and Sony have all had popular extended console support.  I say this b/c Peter Moore said that they will support Xbox 360 "as long as it sells" and "in ways that make sense." What better way to recoup losses than to so dual support a la the current XP and Vista trend.

@OP: I do believe that since the console is successfull they will maintain it for a while. Their goal was to make a brandname and they have managed that, especially this year. So they should be focussing on solidifying this asset and not ruin it by tagging XBox with "4 year value product only" as it seemed after the first one...

Anyway, I don't "hate" anybody! I just strongly believe that is highly problematic when one candidate tries to talk politics, the other one is hiding behind a (beautiful) woman, with ambiguous and controversial beliefs (all this "family, country, patriotism" thing sucks either way. No matter if it is served in America, in Greece or in Turkey), who deliberately confuses a metaphor (you know, the one with the lipstick and the pig) and says that Obama swore her! Are there people who actually believe these things?

That sounds about right for a console lifecycle 6-7 years new one comes out support the old one for another couple.
