My PC won't start

I cannot make my PC start.

It was turned off by me pressing the off button for 5 seconds, as the PC suddenly went black when I played TF2, and nothing I did could change the screen from being black. It had a system update waiting to be installed through the net as soon as it was turned off.

It is a ~ half year old HP PC

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The #1 cause of PC's breaking is the power supply, followed closely by the USB hubs blowing out.

If you have access to another power supply, try swapping it out.

I'd try giving you more help, but I don't have a clue what you are running or where it is failing.

Vista/XP?
Can you see the BIOS screen?
If So, do you get to the Windows Logo?
Have you tried booting in Safe Mode?
