Forums - PC - Good LAN games?

I like to take a break from the larger, more frantic (or completely inactive in some cases) world of online gaming for a nice hour or two of LAN play. My brother usually plays, and his PC struggles to run most games. Pre 2003 would probably be a good place to look, but around that time I spent most of my time playing console games. Which games would you recommend for a small lan game (2-4 players)? I've tried things like Unreal Tournament, which is great fun. I've also hear Serious Sam and Quake 3: Team Arenam are very good, so I'll try to buy a cheap copy of those. Is there anthing else I'm missing out on? Something with a story Co-Op would be fantastic.

Age of Empires Conquerors is great for a lan game ,really low system requriments too.

I used to play Serious Sam with my roommate. It's great for co-op play, but has no story. Try finding every secret on each stage, some of them are hilarious. There are 3 Serious Sam games (SS: First encounter, SS: Second encounter and SS 2). If you like hack 'n slash RPGs, there's quite a few of them on the PC: Diablo (1 and 2), Dungeon siege (1 and 2) and Titan Quest.

Here's a list with a few more: http://forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?p=834502

Ah, that was the first game I took online (well.... Age of Kings really, but still Age of Empires 2).

Counter-Strike is a good one as well, we had a LAN in a class in high school. We'd get done with our work and start playing the old 1.5 version of CS.
