How does Disgaea 3 rank compared to Disgaea 1 and 2? Is it better than 2? If so, I might skip on 2 and go straight to 3. I'm so close to finishing Disgaea 1 and I'm wondering which one I should pick up next.

I started with 3, so I have no idea.

In reference to the story, yes it is bad.

I hate anime, always have. I usually skip the story when it gets too stupid for my taste.

Disgaea isn't really about the story anyways, it's about seeing how stupidly strong you can make your characters.

The first Disgaea had a great story.  I really hate most JRPG stories and I hate almost all anime because the story/characters are usually dumb.  But Disgaea's story is a lot of fun.  And I'm not a level grinder, I've been pushing my way through Disgaea because I want to know how it ends.

Just finished the story.

Now I'm on to all of the bonus content, which will take the rest of my life to complete.

As of right now, go with Disgaea 2. D2 has a better story and the characters are more interesting and lovable compared to D3, but I'm not really that far in D3.

I'm already at chapter 2 and the story seems to be picking up but nothing amazing. The game is very fun and addictive though.
