I mean I know it has important cultural status, but surely the cost of the last hurricane was astronomical?

 New Orleans is the largest port in the US. The city is not just a group of people but actually a rather important part of the US currently. While you may think people should just move on, I assure you it is fairly vital that the city remained populated for various economic reasons.

Please in 2004 FL got hit by 4 hurricanes and FL Got fucked up..but we Floridians didn't blame other people and the Govrnment for what happen, we just fix everything and got everything running again..People in NO just bitch and bitch about everything and MY GOD THEY ARE STILL BITCHING TODAY..

If Ike hits NO oh well you people need to start packing...

@zucas- Economically, NO isnt that major of a factor since Katrina. Prior, sure, but since then its only been operating at a fraction of what it once has. There's a big diff from another 'cane hitting NO and another 9/11 -like attack on NYC. Of course, no one wants to see NO get smashed again, Im just saying.

As for your theory about God being loving and forgiving, etc. God is wrathful throughout the bible, and smites many onsetters. NO has a rich history of shaminism, witch doctors etc in pockets that came with creole culture. What if it was a modern day Gomorrah? Mardi Gras has never been a meeting of holy people. =D

 You are either really ignorant or just stupid.The results of Katrina is considered the worst failure of civil engineering in the history of the United States. This also prompted FEMA to completely fail at the one task that it was supposed to do finally revealing to a wider audience that it was where government officials got jobs for their retarded nephews. Further, the city itself had already been hit by a couple hurricanes that year and got pegged by another one (at least) before the season was over. The fact that this shit could happen again is cause for a bit of concern for those of us living here.
