Not in Ohio.  In Ohio everytime people vote on a new tax levy they tell you exactly what it's for.  They even breakdown what the money from the levy will go to buying.

Who's to say that books are the only usable resources for learning? A lot of people gained greater knowledge of the suffering endured during the Holocaust in a movie called "Schindler's List", the civil war was brought to life in "Glory" and brilliant film making has had emotional impact on the lives of it's viewers for decades. Some people are more visual than others and to assume that America is dumbing down because libraries are trying to reach a wider audience is ridiculous. I believe that by incouraging others to partake in the film process (some of which have been adapted from books) may open doors into an interest in reading that would otherwise be non-existant.

The title for this thread is just horrible. If you want what one library does to be a reflection on how sophisticated American Culture is then you just plain being ignorant of the greater cultural and moral force that American is in the world. I would word my post with much stronger language, but since I fear being banned by the OP i will remain quiet.
