Windows Vista

Around the Network

I'm finally warming up to Vista (its aesthetic is really nice, you can organize media a lot better, the new search function is a plus) but there are a few things that bother me.

I don't really feel like I have lost any functionality though. The new design of the Office Suite REALLY takes some getting used to though. A few things are more convenient, but most things are really confusing for quite some time.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Every time I use windows, I end up getting frustrated by something. I don't know why, something always seems to stop working.

Windows. Ive never tried any other OS

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I don't like OS much.

Not fully maximizing is the suxxorz. And yes, top left minimizing and such sucks. it looks much more slick when you minimize it when the window goes all wavy and such.

And as someone else said, whenever I use mac, I feel like I'm forcing it to do something.

Also, the lack of a right button makes me hurl. I need my right button to copy paste, forget all the ctrl v or whatever.

Windows, in order to play games obviously! I mean you can dual boot, but then it's windows anyway!

I've tried xubuntu on my old PC, but in the end just replaced it.

Also, I agree with akuma587, the max, min etc buttons are the wrong size, and you can't maximise things properly! Plus the whole one button mouse thing annoys me.

However, Office 2007 is horrible! Well more specifically Excel 2007, they got rid of the f***ing graph wizard so it does verything automatically, which means that it automatically does everything WRONG. However, Word 2007 is nice.

Only when you put a patch to add the old menus, the new design is absolutely horrible and unintuitive, the old desing was great, everything was in its place, who was the stupid at M$ who decided to change it

I've never understood the need for maximized windows, I like being able to multitask and use something without it hogging the entire screen. For example, when I have to (manually!) decompress something with WinZip it automatically takes the entire screen. WINZIP! Seriously, all I want to do is have the file decompressed into the folder I'm currently working in, and suddenly interrupts whatever I'm doing, which is extremely annoying. Another example- when installing anything, It decides that it needs to take up the whole screen, leaving me unable to do anything until I wait for it to finish.

Right click has been on Macs since 1998. They have been shipping with four button mice since 2005.

I never feeling like I'm forcing it to do anything.

Congratulations. Before complaining about an OS, you should probably use a computer newer than seven years old. Macs have full maximization (click the red + twice) and have been standard issue with a two button mouse for nearly half a decade now (not to mention they've supported two button mice for over a decade now).
