Take-Two's earning statement confirms BioShock 2 is coming in fiscal year 2009. That would likely put its release sometime next holiday season.

The report's formatting initially had PS3, Xbox 360 and PC next to BioShock 2 but it has since been revised with "TBA." With BioShock coming to PS3 shortly the odds of BioShock 2 being developed for both consoles are worth betting on. Whether it will appear on Xbox 360 first as a timed exclusive remains to be seen.

The report also states Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over 10 million copies worldwide as of August 16.

Also selling strong is Carnival Games on Wii and DS which combined have moved over 2 million units.

Other notable items in the release is a fiscal 2009 launch for Borderlands on PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC, as well as Superstars Wii NBA, the basketball version of MLB Superstars.

There are two possible reasons for this sequence of events.  The first is that the game won't make it into 2009.  This is unlikely given the engine and most assets were completed in the first game.

The second is the probability that someone (read: Microsoft) has bought or is looking to buy a window of exclusivity for the sequel, as was done with the original.

This is not in the gaming section... why?

Because as far as I know Bioshock is only currently available on Microsoft platforms.........

I hope it makes it in 2009. Combined with Alan Wake, Halo Wars, and hopefully Mass Effect 2, 2009 could be every bit as good as 2007 or 2008.

Actually, with their financial issues I would be shocked if they staggered the release, remember that Sony laid down the law and said if you delay the PS3 version of the game it needs to have exclusive content to the PS3 or forget it.

I think T2 will be releasing this simultaneously. Cost more money to stagger it and have to add stuff to the game then to just release at the same time. Especially with the trend of the PS3 vs 360 install base heading into 2009.

The title of the thread and article says it was confirmed for PS3,360 and PC before the status of the game became TBA. There was no specifics on whether it were to be on only microsoft platforms at all...

The article even talks about bioshock 1 on the PS3.
