Xbox 360 Hard Drive Gets A Price Cut Too

Now that the Xbox 360 line-up has been giving aserious price gutting in the US of A, the cuts continue, with the 120GB hard drive seeing a $30 reduction. Previously at $179, it would have been an even harder prospective purchase for anyone picking up a $199 Xbox 360 Arcade. The hard drive add on is now slightly more reasonably* priced at $149 at both EBGames andAmazon. Thanks to Matt for the heads up.

Not much, but at least it is something.

MSFT should have scrapped the arcade kept the 20gb and priced it at $250 with built in Wi Fi...a $250 arcade with a 20gb with built in wi fi and the 120gb hard drive seperate for 99$ The elite should not exist....This would be so much better.

The entry price for a 360, since they push xbox live so much and even charge $50 a year for it.....the entry price for me and many other gamers that the 360 is targeted at will always be AT LEAST $340 when we factor in Live and the Wi Fi adapter....this is whats holding the 360 back and why the PS3 is able to keep up, BD notwithstanding. Their console entry price is not the real entry price for what gamers want and or need when we factor in Live and Wi Fi. Its stupid, imo.

The 360 60gb will drop soon enough too, Thats how microsoft will stay one steap ahead of sony, Microsoft have already stated they know when will be the right time to drop the price of the "main" consoles ie the 60gb and Elite

The 360 performed remarkably despite no cuts for such a long time

That sweetspot price is not far away, 360 sales will hit the roof, Bank on it

Sony will soon start to buckle

I consider myself a pretty big gamer and I could give a rats ass about WiFi, and I am sure the causal gamers that the arcade is targeting, do not care about Live.  The hard drive, however, is priced ****ing ridiculously and I care about that.

Ditto.  I hate that I have to buy the wifi adapter and pay for Live.  Absolutely hate it.  And I resent the fact that they got me to buy both while I had my XBox360.  Never again Microsoft.

i disagree. MSFT is selling consoles because they have a VASTLY greater library of games....whats holding them back is holding back wi fi and charging $50 for live when the PS3 offers Live for free, essentially at this point. Once Sony can rival MSFT in the games department, and thats soon, imo, the 360 sales will not go through the ceiling, imo.

MSFT has made their sales of the console on games.....period. they will NEVER maximize their sales by charging out the ass for the wi fi and still charging $50 for live when the PS3 offers online play for free. This is from the aspect of the demographic the PS3 and 360 are geared for, imo.

Id never play games using Wifi...no true gamer should use wifi...especially not G and B that ps3 has.

But i do agree that they should have a hard drive on all models. However i am not smarter than the wall of microsofts accountants and decision making CEOs...im sure they have a reason that the hard driveless arcade exists.

well, i dont really think Wi Fi is a "hardcore" appeal. Its an appeal to any houshould that doesnt have their 360 by their cable modem or computer. Thats a more important variable than being a hardcore gamer....the average family utilizes Wi Fi.

it exists for PR....id be curious to see how much it sells compared to the 20Gb, Elite and now 60GB...imo its only there so they can say we can get a 360 for under $200. I honestly dont know a single person who has bought the Arcade.....and that includes nephews, and friends children.
