Parliamentary systems are so much faster.

Long elections are good for the economy. It moves around a lot of money.

They are also good because they prevent Congress from doing stuff. Every time they do something, they fuck something up.

I side with NDP, but I'll take the Conservatives over the Liberals for sure.

I am impressed that the Tories have accomplished so much considering they have (I believe) the smallest minority in Canadian history. I suspect the Greens may win (Wilson does not count) a seat in BC or Ontario.

It really made me sad that the Conservatives went completely unopposed in Parliament. They could have passed a bill banning the Liberal party and the Liberals still would have abstained from voting. It'll be hard to see how Dion and his party can defend their record over the last two years.

stof, The reason I said I don't understand why people vote green or NDP is that there is a real good chance that the conservatives will win. Being far left I would assume that an NDPer would rather have the liberals in then the conservatives.

I am a conservative and if the polls were reversed and the NDP had a good chance to win and the conservatives were sure to lose I would vote for the liberals just reduce the chances of a NDP govt.

That is all.

But demacll, I refuse to spend my whole life supporting a party I don't support at all just because They're the most successful alternative.

Also, the NDP doesn't need to be in power to accomplish a lot of good. Just as a voice in Ottawa they act as Parliament's conscience and keep nudging the agenda back on track. And they've also got a lot accomplished in the past. In fact, if they had just a few more seats in this last election (enough to hold the balance of power), these last two years could have been much different.
