Forums - General - Canadians Elections to be held on October 14th

@Stof
I had forgotten about Mulcair. We'll have to see the candidates that they have. Of course their popular vote is increasing, which is a good thing, but do they have the votes in specific riddings to take the seat or are those 300 000 votes too spread out to make a huge difference. I think it would be healthy for them to win a few seats in Quebec. Same for the Green party.

Will you be a candidate again?

@ O-D-C
I don't think we Quebeckers are that different that we cannot find our voices inside of a pan-Canadian party. Like any other Canadians, we commute to jobs we don't like but can't quit because we have mortgages on our single family dwelling, two cars we can barely afford and 2.1 kids. The only difference is that our TV shows are in French when we sit down in front of the boob tube and seeing a set of tits is not considered offensive.

The Bloc's name is appropriate. They Bloc stuff even when it might be in the long term interests of Quebeckers as long as it promotes Separatism. It is against their interest of Separatism for the federal government to function fluidly.

Regarding registration, call Elections Canada. It is not at all too late.

1st off thanks for the link

I think Quebec needs the Bloc, I dont tend to agree with them very often, but Quebec still needs a voice that shows it has a different past then the rest of Canada, and I was disagreeing with Stof about getting rif of the Bloc.

Im not a seperatist by any stretch of the imagination, but I do agree with Mr. Harper that Quebec is its own nation inside a unified Canada and it needs that voice reminding all Canadians that Quebec comes from a different lineage.

Most ridings picked their candidates a long time ago. I decided not to throw my hat in to the ring. My dad was sick at the time and to be honest, I don't think I'd be a good choice this time around. I'd love to run again in the future when I've actually accomplished something though.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I'm willing to tolerate a Liberal Government, but if the NDP either get in power or hold the ballance of power I will (really) be forced to join the Alberta Seperatist party.

Quebec can have a voice that speaks for it without having a majority of its seats going to a party, such as the Bloc, that can never aspire to power because it does not have enough candidates in Canada to get even a minority government. I am a Quebecker and feel that my voice is heard just as effectively by the parties that are trying to get the new Quebec voters (NDP and Conservative) than by the Bloc, which again, will never be in power.

Quebec did well before the Bloc (which was only founded in 1991) and it shall do well when/if it is dissolved. If/when it is dissolved it will be because Quebeckers have decided that it is no longer a party for them. Therefore its demise will be democratic as it should be. It should not be kept on life preservers.

I don't understand the people who support the NDP or Green. They are far left while the conservatives are right. Yet the liberals are in the middle. The NDP/Green have 0% chance of winning (Thank God) but they will still split the left vote and let the right win.

You don't understand why someone would vote according to what they believe in?

I don't care how much the Liberals scare monger at election time, I'm not going to vote for a party that I don't think will do what's best for my country.

So, what has he done that you disagree with so badly that you consider him an "idiot"?
