Forums - General - microwaving food is not the same as cooking

Around the Network

Traditional cooking is not possible in a microwave, it's true. Mostly because traditional cooking heats by convection (heated air penetrates the food), whereas microwaves cook by vibration (water molecules vibrate, generating heat). But you can still cook dishes in the microwave; the recipes just have to be specifically written with water-vibration heat in mind, and with an understanding that the temperature will never go higher than 212F.

Please don't get angry Mr Banner.

@twesterm.... sounds nice, I can't say I am a big lover of steak (I'm a fish man) but the more rare the better, and it's hard to get rarer than that.

@mistershine.... How did you make toast in the microwave?
