Forums - Sony - Konami sees little PS3 price cut impact, hints MSG4 on other platforms

Has konami dropped the bomb ??
their comments are exceedingly critical of Sony's strategy.
Sony needs to convince dev's not to drop exclusivity, PS3 sales will improve automatically once the exclusives are released.
So far the only third party exclusive released on PS3 is Virtua Fighter 5.
If Sigma might show strong legs on the charts and break a million global, a lot of PS3 exclusives will get firmer release dates.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

I personally can understand the feeling of the developers for porting games to other next gen consoles. Creating games these days take more money to develop, especially on consoles such as the PS3, which requires a higher budget. Since the low fan base so far on the PS3, publishers worry about overall sales and that's not so surprising. Take several PS3 sales in Japan , such as Folks Soul. Sold in the first week about 17.000, now in it's second week just reached the 22.000. Not much to creat a high profit from, if not loss...

Though I'm not fond of the high sales of a WII Sports or Play or even a Mario Party 8. I have the feeling that "serious" games are taken less seriously by gamers and therefore the image of WII being nothing but a party slash casual gaming slash easy-money-making-console, bugs me more.

@Forenzelli, Eh Virtua Fighter 5 will also be released on the Xbox 360, so, so much for being exclusive.

Im not surprised I hope its true because I want all gamers to enjoy the awesomes of MGS4. I got a question if its true would Sony fanboys dismissed this game like DMC4 and GTA4? Because when DMC4 went to 360 Sony fanboys were saying it looks like crap anyways, its going to be sucky like DMC2 and We still have MGS4 and FFXIII. Im just wondering

not gonna happen.......

b/c I'll hunt down the exec that makes the decision.

seriously though, I don't see it coming. Wishful thinking perhaps, but MGS2 ported to the xbox did so well.

This doesn't necessarily mean MGS 4 is going to other consoles. There could be another MGS spinoff or remake going to some other console later on or there could be nothing.

It is merely a possibility still.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Well first of all that was back when the Playstation console was doing good, and the Xbox was doing bad. The version the Xbox got was also a remake of a one year old game, and everyone knows remakes always sell worse than the original.

This time ' round the Playstation has disasterously low sales, while the Xbox is doing ok, and Nintendo is making a killing. It's completely obvious the game would sell better if it went to the Xbox 360, and even better on all three consoles. All that remains to be seen is if Konami wants to loose even more money out of loyalty to Sony.

Developers are impatient and are only willing to wait so long for the PS3 to beging selling well ... If the price cut doesn't have that much of an impact expect to start seeing XBox 360 ports of MGS or Final Fantasy, and (possibly) the cancelation of PS3 versions of mulitplatform games.

Sony has mentioned not to pay for exclusive titles except by earning them. So therefore I wonder how long it takes before a MGS and a FF on the Playstation console looses it's entire exclusivity. I don't say this to flame at all, just with some kind of perspecitve. Every console has it's own exclusive titles so should the PS3 continue to have, but the low sales and high demand on games from consumers brings serious doubts to developers / publishers I guess. In the past we only saw a Final Fantasy on the Playstation with a few remakes on the Nintendo handhelds. Now these days we have to face all kinds of spin off games or games which fit in the serie, as suppose to happen with FFXIII, created for different platforms. For that... the gaming industry seems to change rapidly, thanks to the consumers and consoles.

yeah this sort of news is bad for Sony, now that they made a first step toward competitive pricing they need exclusive games everybody whants, sure one or two games doesn´t make a world of difference but they add up and by mid 08 the PS3 will need a good library of exclusives to look good, if most of the important game go multi the PS3 might end up beeing a 360 with a blueray player (or the 360 becomes a PS3 without blueray) eather way both companies have to show big differences in their exclusive library so the common gamer can see where the difference is, up to now I can only see Halo3 beeing one of the big games where people will say "this is a reason to go 360" the PS3 will need God of War and Ratchet and Clank type games fast  (I know it has good shoters too but  I don´t see them as beeing better than the 360s....yet) but lets just wait and see how things turn out, there are alwais games that get the common gamers attention and nobody would have thought so.

LOL "cancellation of the PS3 version"
I just hope it will not happen and that FF/MGS will stay exclusive to PS3 or at least 1 year retarded on the others consoles.
I suppose E3 will help us ...

Time to Work !
