Forums - Gaming - Will we start seeing more innovative RPGs?

Personally I don't want to see much change, maybe just refining of storytelling and character development. I'm already pissed that there aren't as many turn based RPGs being made anymore, and I live in constant fear that RPGs will all become like TWEWY. (no offence if anybody likes this game, I'm just stating opinion)

RPGs like TWEWY are only possible on the DS so I doubt that would happen.

Innovation isn't always a good thing. Secret of Evermore is different from everything I have played (save for the gameplay being almost a secret of mana copy). The game isn't that fun. Dragon Quest 8 is as generic as a game can get and one of the best I have played. Chrono Trigger didnt do anything new and is the best RPG I have ever played. CT even removed some of the annoying and pointless features every RPG must have nowadays.
Innovation is just a fancy name if you can't make your game more enjoyable.

YES!!!! Finally someone else who comes out to say that innovation means diddly-squat. All I care about is how fun the game is.

True but at the same time, innovation can be good if done right.

@ItsaMii

Actually, Chrono Trigger was revolutionary when it came out with it's multiple endings and replay value
