@Sqrl, well then, if the guy is a drunk who drinks in his squad car and tazered her nephew and whatnot, then why didn't he get fired before the divorce?

Did you bother to read what I wrote?  Read it again, then respond.  I quite clearly called them allegations and pointed out the need for more information. Jumping to conclusions about what I've wrote and then asking me to defend them is not a platform for a reasoned debate.

Perhaps with a timeline of events as they are alleged, and an understanding of what went on behind the scenes of any possible charges or IA investigations into those charges I could answer that question.  But without those things I would be taking a stab in the dark, as would you.

Yes I  read what you wrote.

Okay, I read it again.  Nothing changed.

Oh crap, the post I'm quoting just doubled in size within the time I was reading your last post and hit Quote.

I said "if" and was asking a hypothetical.  If somebody's drunk on the job, you fire them before there's family drama.  If they're not drunk on the job, you don't make up a bunch of crap after there's family drama.  I don't know what happened, but the other guy they fired says they called him 24 times to pressure him to fire Wooten, and Palin's husband has already admitted to pressuring the guy to fire Wooten.  I'll just leave it at this: "It's fishy as hell."  I'll reserve judgment beyond how fishy it is until October, unless there's a big break in the case and more shit hits the fan.

And since McCain didn't vet her at all, he didn't know she had a private lawyer to defend her during the investigation.

The investigation is due to file their report on October 31st.  It's like McCain picked the candidate based on the biggest surprise right before we vote.  Or it's like he said, he just had a gut feeling that she was his soul mate.

The very essence of my point was that we should not fall into the trap you are falling into...and this isn't the first time you've done that..but I won't bring up old threads.

In this case we have even less information and yet you still want to press forward to a conclusion for some reason.  Fine, then please find the following information (note that we will need all of it):  when the divorce happened, when the tazer incident happened, when the drinking in the squad car happened, when the death threat happened, when the first attempt at firing happened, when any and all subsequent attempts at firing happened, phone records and emails regarding those firing related correspondance, when she fired the PSC,  what the circumstance of the divorce were, some corroboration on the issue of whether she even tried to get the cop fired to begin with (it is only an allegation at this point), etc...etc...etc...

Once you get that information (and probably even more than that) we can draw a valid conclusion, before then its all a political game to demonize first and worry about the damage later.

PS - I like you a lot more outside of politics.

So how about that dirty seperatist rumour?

She was a member until 1996 when she became a Republican to run for mayor.

I don't think it means she wanted to secede. I just think it means she was in a nutty party for a while. I think it's as lame as the DWI story for her husband.

Apparently Bristol got pregnant on the same day that Mario Kart:Wii was released in North America. Coincidence? I think not.

So far, there are two stories surrounding Sarah Palin which have importance. The first is the ongoing investigation as to whether she requested Alaska's public safety commissioner to fire Palin's state trooper brother in law and then dismissed him after he refused.

The second is her high school daughter's pregnancy.

The first is important because if true, she abused power and broke the law... She'd be completely fucked.

The second is important, not because it says something about Sarah or her daughter, but because it illustrates the folly of abstinence only education (the part about how it doesn't work at all), which is not an illustration you want coming from the daughter of a Vice Presidential candidate who's a proponent of abstinence only education.

That is all.

@bold,

 1. How exactly would that be against the law?  Unethical certainly, but I don't think it actually breaks any laws, does it?

Anyways, in the interest of full disclosure it is only fair to mention that this is the same brother in law who has allegedly been found drinking in his squad car (I believe on duty, but not 100% sure if that was part of the allegation), making death threats against Palin's father, and using his tazer on her nephew. If even one of those things is true the story isn't going to matter in the court of public opinion.

 2. Either way, more information needs to develop before anyone should legitimately be reaching a final conclusion on that case.  I believe the inquiry into the matter will be finished sometime in late October iirc, so we should have quite a bit more info to make a factual determination then.

3 . Now on the other issue, if you want to make a case against abstinence only policies then you can do it with studies and facts, not with anecdotes. I would hope that people on this site of all places understand that a single anecdote has about as much meaning as Amazon.com sales rankings do on the weekly sales numbers.  The only reason it is being made into an issue is because it is easily sensationalized into a slogan.  Using this case to make the point is an invalid argument on an intellectual level and a shameful exploitation of a young woman on an ethical level.

If the argument against abstinence only policies has merit (as I personally believe it does) then it can be validated without exploiting someone.  At some point people need to stop and give consideration to what effect this actually has on Bristol and even the child once it is born, I'm not simply attempting to be melodramatic by calling this an exploitation..it truly is an exploitation of their personal lives to advance a political agenda with no regard for the impact on them.

Frankly I think the whole thing is fairly petty, but hey that is politics as usual.  Sadly even if Obama is ready to move away from "the same old politics as usual", the majority of the media and pundits clearly are not.

1. Your right. Not illegal. But still a flagrant abuse that would leave her completely fucked.

2. which is why I said "if true" The investigation is to determine whether it's true or not.

3. The studies and facts already discredit abstinence only education programs. sex education already has been validated. The problem is that Sarah Palin is a proponent of a system that doesn't work in spite of evidence to the contrary. The fact that her own daughter has slipped through the gaping cracks in absitence only education is more than "just an anecdote", it raises the question of how can Palin possibly stick to her guns on such an ineffective policy when it's effects have hit so close to home.

As for the exploitation of Bristol. yeah, I think they'll drag her through the mud for it when, like I said in my first post, it means nothing about her as a person or Palin as a mother, but as the daughter of a vice presidential candidate, that happens.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I don't hate her, but i'm not fond of her.

I wanted him to go with Liberman.

A Pro-Choice candidate so i could be positive that if his Pro-life judges get blocked in the senate he wouldn't keep going with pro-life judges till her got his way.

That's the tough thing about McCain, He's willing to change his mind, willing to cross the aisle to get stuff done, but you need to prove to him your right...

and Abortion rights is something that you can't really prove right or wrong.

All and all if Obama recants his position on corn ethanol i'll probably vote for him because of it.

Seems unlikely though.... considering his state and the ties he has with the loby.

Cell Ethanol = good.  Biofuel Ethanol = Criminal. (according to the UN.)

I'll just have to hope the Democratic Senators have some backbone.  Better then having America make the global food crisis even worse by increasing ethanol production.

Well, we're not ABSOLUTELY sure Rol is a guy. But if s/he isn't then Sarah Palin really does have a problem because she has said Bristol is getting married to the father... and yet she is against same-sex marriage. If Rol does turn out to be a gal then maybe s/he and Bristol can go down to San Francisco and have Rubang perform the marriage.

That'd work well.  Maybe John McCain could her away despite not believing in gay marraige.

Hey, he agreed to do it for Ellen.

I was sad when i found out one of those elderly gay women who got married died.  Well at least they got married before she died.  That had to be a good day and a good thing to have got done in time.
