Forums - Sony - Sony's 80GB PS3 pic points to rumble-ready controller?

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/07/09/ps3_sixaxis_rumble/

"The rumours stem from a picture of the design of the 80GB PS3's box, which was released alongside Sony's announcement, and which shows the controller with an illuminated red button in the centre.

On Sony's PS2 controller the equivalent of the red button, a square LED, was used to indicate the operation of its rumble capability, which makes the controller... well... rumble in time with gun shots, car crashes, etc while playing a game.

Sony has yet to comment on the presence of a rumble feature on the 80GB PS3 controller, but some gamers are speculating the feature, also referred to as Touch Sense, will be an improvement on the PS2's rumble capabilities by making its vibrations more akin to what's taking place on screen."

I think if the 80 Gig model really does have rumble it would have greater positive effect on sales as it's a clearer and more immediate hardware benefit then just 20gigs of extra space.

That'd be nice, but I kinda question that as a lot of pictures of the PS3 and the Sixaxis on the internet show the Sixaxis with the lit up PS button.

Who knows, a rumble announcement at E3 would be cool.

The controller has never been that much of a selling factor on a console except of the Wii but that's another story, it's all about the games! Without the games or prospect of good games, they are all worthless no matter the price. Tell me honestly are there people out there who bought a PS3 just for the sixaxis capabilities? I don't think so.

I think it would be smarter if Sony released the Boomerang with rumble as a pheripheral. Similarely to what Nintendo offers with the Wave Bird before and with the classic controller more recently.

And who needs a bigger harddrive anyways, if people really want to download alot of content, they are better off with an external harddrive!

Please, no boomerang. That was a huge mistake, and I am glad they fixed it before the system hit stores.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

@ Akuma587, I was pointing at the fact that you could buy the Boomerang separately, not included in the box. That keeps fans of both controllers happy =)

It wouldn't hurt if they released a separate sixaxis with rumble feature, no need to buy an entire new PS3 box to enjoy rumble feature right? And if Sony doesn't fix it, there's always 3rd party =P

If they started including rumbling Sixaxis controllers with the new 80gig consoles, I'm sure they'd be replacing all the current stand alone Sixaxis controllers with rumbling ones as well.

There was also an interview with the Haze developers and he had a Sixaxis that was blurred out. Why would they blur it out from the video, unless it was the new Shockaxis?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It's the 'Full of Glamour' video added on July 6th and the part in question is roughly around the 9:30-10 minute mark.

Kotaku puts this to rest (for the moment since they denied the PS3 price drop, they could just be waiting to announce it)
