Forums - PC - I'm just not that excited about Spore. Help me out!

I've always been a big fan of Will Wright's work.  I grew up with almost every Maxis game every made.  I'm currently in a SimCity 4 addiction.  I've loved all of the Sim City games.  I loved the Sims when I was younger.  I still play the Sims 2 with my girlfriend often.  I really appreciate all of Wright's ideas, but for some reason, Spore isn't getting me psyched up.  I appreciate the creativity and vision he's putting into this project, but it's not getting me pumped up like all of his previous franchises have.  It's coming out soon, isn't it?  I'll admit I haven't been reading every preview about it, I can't honestly say I totally understand the game mechanics, can someone try to get me pumped up about this game?

Is it sad that I'm more excited for SimCity Creator for Wii than I am for Spore ?

Thanks!

Do you think it's a game my girlfriend and I could play together?  We like to play Sims together and make sims of ourselves, and build our house and woohoo in all the different spots we can.  haha.  She likes games where you can build stuff, like RollerCoaster Tycoon.  Do you think it's something we'd enjoy together?

It comes out the 7th.

As for hype... It's the first game to use something well that in the future will be used in almost all videogames. (If we're lucky)

Procedural generation will be the wave of the future giving games more options then before.

Another game to look out for on this front is Borderlands. Who uses procedural generation to give the player the choice of over 500,000 guns.

Other then that... it's a game where you guide a creature from it's start to dominance through a bunch of simple games.

Half the fun will be seeing what new monsters are out there for you to see.

Yeah, considering:

A) Will Wrights is the creator

B) It's off a completely new engine, but is influenced by the Sims series

C) You create a whole new life

I see both of you guys enjoying the game. Lots of giggles and fun well spent time you two will have together with this game.
