by The Jackson 5/(The Jacksons) way more than most of MJ's solo songs. They are among the best radio singles ever made.
Off the Wall is his best solo album, imo, and the only one I still can listen to today - especially Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough stood the test of time and is still brilliant today.
Thriller was a great piece of work, but this album got such an incredible amount of airplay even years after the release that many people couldn't stand the songs anymore (I think this was the first time 7 songs from one album were released as singles). In 1987 the whole procedure was repeated with the release of Bad (this time 8 songs from the original album were released as singles, and the 9th stand-alone single Leave Me Alone was added later to the album). That's how MJ became a synonym for the 80s.
When Thriller came out I already had fallen in love with the music by this guy called Prince and about one and a half year later Purple Rain was released. I still listened to MJ works until the end of the 80s but in fact I never really looked back, as Prince released one excellent album after another during the 80s and it culminated in his best work: Sign o' the Times.
(In case you wonder why I mention Prince in this thread: In the early to mid-80s Thriller, Purple Rain, Like a Virgin and Born in the USA were the four albums that ruled the mainstream for several years and everyone was comparing and discussing the personalities and the works of Michael Jackson and Prince. For a few years it was MJ OR Prince. Funny times...)
