Forums - Gaming - The Real Gamer Oath!

This is definitely one of the dumber threads I've ever seen. Just because a game scored a 7/10 doesn't mean it's bad and shouldn't be bought.

If that were the case the industry would fall in on itself because people would only buy Gears of War 234 and Uncharted 32 (but apparently not Mario 4553) and not everything else. That means you would only buy a game every year or so. Woohoo!

Why don't you just stick to buying the games you like and let people buy the games they like?

look through the list of comments again, I gave a Def Jam: ICON example on what I am getting at. This was a Thread simply about not giving into the hunger for "decent" game. What I see happening a lot is that we are so quality deprived that we settle for games that we normally would not give a second look. Take Infinite Undiscovery for example, I am so SE deprived I kinda want the game. I personally dont think it will be that great as it simply rips off things from better RPGs. It has bad voice acting, and a fighting system completely stolen from SO3. Reviews say this game is anywhere between OK and just down right BAD. This is a game i simply should not get. If I did I would be feeding into the idea that this kind of game is ok to shove down our throats, that mediocrity is the future. This has Developers thinking they can get away with low budget garbage, this is what I was standing against.

Some how the thread completely steered away from that. This happened to me once before in another thread where I was explaining about a very tragic incedent I had with a 360, giving me reason not to like the system. Somehow the thread turned about my spelling. People see what they want to see, this is my issue.

I get what you are saying honest. The problem is you are rallying for a cause that everyone is already on board with. People normally won't buy games they dislike. What you are seeing is people jumping to a conclusion that you must be saying something else because what you are trying to say is blindingly obvious. Until there is a way to objectively rate a games worth you can't ever think to start some campaign against mediocre games selling to too many people because there is no way to define a mediocre game.

I'm sure this won't turn into a flame war. =P

Ha, how wrong you were.

No kidding. It's idiotic comments like that one that make me want to boycott this BrainBoxLtd guy all over again.

Hmm, after finally reading the thread, it's going nowhere fast. Rather than get more headaches on the reports of this thread lets just close it.

A real gamer would put PC games in there.

Exactly

World of WarCraft

Crysis

Company of Heroes

World in Conflict

Supreme Commander (yes there was a 360 version but sorry, no offense, but console RTSs suck even worse than console FPS)

Universe at War (not AAA but at least AA quality, oh and yet again a crappy 360 version but that can be ignored, it's sort of like saying StarCraft was multiplatform cause there was a N64 version)

Star Wars: Empire at War

Battlefield 2

Dawn of War

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Medieval II: Total War

WarCraft 3 (if you want to stretch and count that as in this generation)

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures

Sins of a Solar Empire

Galactic Civilizations II

Europa Universalis III

Sam & Max Seasons One and Two

The Witcher

Doom 3 if you want to stretch and count that in this gen.

Two Worlds

Possible Future AAA and AA titles this generation:

Demigod

Crysis: Warhead

Legendary

Spore

StarCraft II

Diablo III

Doom 4

Warhammer Online

Empire: Total War

And keep in mind these are just the ones that I know off the top of my head.  Just because you don't know the AAA PC titles doesn't mean they don't exist, the only difference between consoles and PCs is that most AAA console games are ridiculously overhyped and heavily advertised with companies putting millions into the advertisements of them.

The PC definitely has tons of AAA titles and good ones come out every year and we have more to come, the list is a lot longer than what I put and that is just this generation too.  And unlike with consoles I can actually play all of my old games on this current generations PCs so my overall game library is much larger without having to have multiple consoles around (I know consoles have backwards compatibility but it's not 100% with all old things).

I personally believe the quality of PC titles is ridiculously higher than on consoles because unlike on consoles where you can make some total piece of crap game and still get a significant ammount of sales in some cases or make a medicore game and make a lot of sales, on the PC the only way to survive is by making a truely high quality game, which is why companies like Blizzard can stay PC only and be one of the most profitible game companies out there, it's because their games are such high quality that they can manage very high sales, with most of their games having sold over 10 million copies each and holding records for fastest selling PC games.

Many companies complain about their games not selling as well on the PC as on the consoles but it's because when you try to sell a game to the gamers that actually know whats going on and don't just fall for advertising (ok, I'm generalising here, some of you console guys actually are pretty smart in the gaming world and can recognize overhyped advertising crap), but PC gamers don't buy crap console ports, it's not because PC games don't sell as well it's just we only buy the best and we have a larger selection of the best.
