Forums - Gaming - Would you like motion sensing to become 'the standard' next generation?

Standard as in all the next systems (PS4,next Xbox, next Nintendo) coming with their own "Wiimotes",and almost all,if not all, games having to be played through motion sensing....while I have a Wii and enjoy some of its games, and while I think motion sensing (when done right) can be a more immersive experience, personally I still prefer the 'old fashioned way'...reason why I´m bringing this up is because if the Wii indeed ends up being uber popular by the end of this gen...Sony,MS and devs in general might think "hey motion sensing is the way to go",so I hope at least they include the option for games to be played with a 'conventional' controller,to give people options...this is my personal view and opinion, what´s yours?

I think next gen all systems will have some sort of motion sensing and an enhanced rumble and some sort of pointing device. What remains to be seen IMO if the controllers will sacrifice buttons for all button play and whether they will be two handed or one handed.

If motion sensing becomes the norm, then Nintendo will destroy all their competitors (again?), as they will have the most data about it, and the most experience. They are also the master at creating casual games that appeal to most people.
If their plan succeeds, it will be a terrible blow to the two others, and it's on its way to succeed.

I hope that it does become the norm in the same way that it is the norm on the Wii... That is, certain games will make extensive use of the motion sensing for the sake of motion sensing (Rayman, the parts of Super Paper Mario where you have to use it), other games will make use of it in a way that more completely immerses you in the experience or 'just works' (Zelda:TP, RE4:wii[so i have heard, its shipping to me now], EA's 'family mode' if it works), and others will not really use it as it does not make sense for the game (the parts of SPM without tacky motion control added on).

I really see no reason for motion sensing to *not* be the standard for all future consoles. All I can hope is that they continue to put buttons in easily accessible locations and have a more ergonomic wiimote than the wiimote.

Please, PLEASE do NOT feed the trolls.

Why not?

Although personally I would prefer SIXAXIS type motion sensing, that still alows you to not move that much, as I normally play games to relax, and don't really want to be flailling my arms about.

screw motion controls.

I want cameraImput/holorgams, a fight game where you yourself have to throw knees punches blocks.

Yeah of course, I think we are kidding ourselves if we arent expecting it next gen. I think next gen will see more accurate and better motion control tech, and the motion control tech will be better integrated/combined with classic control methods also. Maybe some type of wireless controls that can be divided into 2 parts for motion games and connected into a more standard ish controller for genres better suited for classic controls. One things for sure tho, motion will be here next gen.

Yeah, would be cool, but we need more new stuff... and more AND MORE

motion sensing shoudl be standard , however doesn't mean it should be used in all genres of games.

example of this is mortal kombat, The motion controlls in that suck (maybe they will imporve now that they have experience).

However fps games should use some sort of pointer it is much better then dual analogue sticks.

I think the wii will be a testing ground that everyone will be watching to see were motion controls work the best and next gen they will try to design a controller on those strengths for those types of games.
