Forums - Sony - Sony's Choice: EyePet funded over Eight Days

By the same horrible logic Wii Sports with it's "intense leaderboards" and medals is hardcore!  OMG Nintendo isn't abandoning the hardcore!  They're secretly turning disabled grandmas and housewives into hardcore gamers!

 ==> you know what ?

When I see a Wiisport ads, it is all about the family playing it. Same for Wiifit.

That is not the case of any trailer seen so far on the internet about LBP.

LBP is not really hardcore or casual : it is a mix. Indeed, the style look casual (ala SMG) but the gameplay is more hardcore (ala SMG).

The Sony damage control in this thread is hilarious.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

I guess the only god industry is M$ then.

Oh god what have I just said.

Erm...well...it saved us from hearing hype about a game that would come out in 3 years...I guess. But I'm still wondering why EyePet is out in late 2009. I mean the tech seems really cool but I'm not sure why'd it'd take over a year to release a PS Eye game? I mean this game can't be that big.

Not sure how to respond very well to this. I just came in for some awesome spin lol.

@Everyone responding to Rol

lol. Fail, You got Rolpwned, etc.

Soriku, you know where I used to work.  You have no idea how long it takes to get any new concept off its feet.  Its not just a pet, I'm sure it'll be alot more than just a teaser video.

@Libellule: LBP=No need to create level ALL about creating a level and sharing it online = hardcore , LBP=Casual.

Home=Do not fill the requirements of hardcore game, Home=Casual. Online community, online play, online purchase, online customization =  hardcore (as if Second life was casual lol)

Eight Days=Abandoned for, EyePet=Casual.

 Fixed.

I dare you to make a thread and state this and see how fast you get shot down.

As for your other statment...

"what about about Zelda/SMG/MetroidPrime sales ..... all is said again."

What is said? That core titles sell on the Wii? Well, gee, nice comment about Nintendo. But if you're taking this negatively...

Zelda sold 4.76 million and will be over 5 million next year. A lot more than any other PS3 title sold. The GC version sold 1.56 million. SMG sold 6.83 million and will be over 7 million next year. A HELL LOT more than any PS3 title sold. MP3 sold 1.46 million, which is pretty good (sold out MP2 but still has a while to go to pass the first one) also.

So...what are you trying to prove?

But Soriku, why do you bring last gen in the discussion ???

You are comparing the successful Wii with the born-dead GC ???

Of course, these titles sodl better on the Wii, just see the hardware sales and all the hype around the console.

Whatever, these titles sell, but seriously, outside the early Ninty fans crowd, this is not these title that are selling the console ... Go check Wiisport, Wiifit, SSBB, MK sales and then you will understand WHO is mostly buying the console.

@Soriku,
"That's like saying the PS3 and 360 are casual because thye have Disney movie titles and they have games like Buzz and Singstar and Lips and such. The point is those are NOT the only games they have...the same way those casual titles are NOT the only games the Wii have."

==> But which games Ninty is promoting at conference (just look their amazingly pathetic E3 (I know they have hidden their hardcore titles ...))

"I don't get why you're trying to pull this because it's really not that hard to apply the same to the other systems in the SAME manner. It's clearly wrong. Or you're indrectly saying that the PS3 and 360 are casual systems."

==> BUT WHICH game IS CREATING THE BUZZ ON PS3 since the launch ???

KillZone2 ! FFXIII !

Which games created the buzz on GC ?

Heavy Rain !

Saying Nintendo has nothing left is ridiculous because like I said they don't want to keep hyping titles for years.

Hmm we have almost September so perhaps they should start hyping something if they want to have something for christmas.

@libellule: So Mii Contest Channel is hardcore too. Ok. Whatever you say.
Yeah, Second Life is casual. Were you trying to prove something with it.

Full lineup with Singstar, the new eyetoy game, LBP, Home, EyePet and their sequels. Soon Killzone 2 will be cancelled for Buzz.
Then you forgot all the shovelware and cheap PC and 360 ports.

Lol, I m pretty sure you all I m right but you keep trying to make me look stupid.
Let's continue the teaching :

- Second life is not casual / online play is not casual : put this in your head.

Go on the street, ask people "did you played second life ? do you know LBP ?". You will see the answer ......... "No, what is it ? Oh, yeah, second life, the thing on the internet and the virtual life, never played"

- Sony has casual title since PS2 was a hardcore/casual console. OK.

But go check the most expected game of the PS3 : no singstar, no eyepet, no eyetoy.
Only hardcore games : LBP, KZ2, Motorstorm2, Resistance2, Socom, Heavy Rain, GT5, FFXIII

You can turn it how you want :

PS3 is not casual YET.
Wii was, is, and will be. It is in the definition ... that is why it is not the next PS2.

Okay, now I see what's your issue with Nintendo: The hardcore aren't the most important customers anymore and not everything doesn't revolve around them anymore.

Whatever, these titles sell, but seriously, outside the early Ninty fans crowd, this is not these title that are selling the console ... Go check Wiisport, Wiifit, SSBB, MK sales and then you will understand WHO is mostly buying the console.

Gamers?

 gamers ? yes, gamers ...
some gamers.

The same gamers that may be interested in a virtual pet.

I m guessing they will not be interested by the hardcore PS3 YET.
Since the console is not targeted on this crowd AND just too expensive, that makes sense.
