2  Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction  Sony Computer Entertainment 1.28m

4  Heavenly Sword  Sony Computer Entertainment 1.15m
5  Folklore  Sony Computer Entertainment 0.19m
6  Lair  Sony Computer Entertainment 0.34m

Add them up and you will see which has higher numbers. My math comes to 16 + mil for microsoft compared to 8+ mil for Sony.

 Also this is not counting the xbox live revenue where games sell by the boat loads and microsoft gets 70% of that revenue. I'm pretty positive Xbox live sells more games than PSN...anyone feel like arguing that?

Err...what dates are you using?  There are some other more recent games like Singstar, Warhawk, and Buzz that you left out.

Trust me, no matter how far back you go, sony published PS3 titles do not outsell 360 titles published by microsoft. All sony has for PS3 is high development cost. Keep in mind im jsut trying to say that the topic is wrong. Sony does sell more software than microsoft. Sony published PS2 + PSP + PS3 titles...sure.

Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, NG2 were not developed by MS studios and resulted in much lower profit per copy sold than lets say Uncharted....

And when Microsoft is publishing third party titles as exclusives you really have to wonder if they take the usual publisher cut or agreed to lower it to have the title go exclusives...

 

 

 

 We are getting in to finer details of the videogame business that I don't know much about so I am not going to argue.

All I can say is that I can't imagine Insomniac working for a Sony salary...they obviously take a cut from their games...so does naughty dog I'm pretty sure. So without those Sony doesn't have too many high selling games. Now what bungie takes from Halo 3 and What Epic tages frm Gears of war...your guess is as good as mine.

Last 12 months or 2007?  Because your list doesn't fit in either.  Warhawk came out in August 2007.  And you still left out titles such as Singstar and Buzz.  Not to mention some games don't even have Others numbers.

 

 

 If games are missing others numbers then they are missing them for both MS and Sony. Also I doubt Buzz and Singstar are 4 million sellers to make a huge difference on that comparison.

Neverthless I understand that my lsit may not be accurate...I jsut listed the games I could remember. If anyone feels like adding, be my guest.

Agree with insomniac.

Naughty Dog is however fully owned by Sony.

 



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Please read clearly about points being argued. The op states that Sony is pulling enough money from PS3's games to justify PS3 loss.

The argument is that Microsoft sells less hardware at no loss and more games yet they still struggle to pull a profit...

Therefore the continuation of that argument is that PS2 and psp software and hardware sales help sony be profitable, not PS3 software sales.

sony game division being loosing money on hardware but making more on software that they loose.

@disolitude: they made profit was last quarter and they not only have one console.

psp ps2 ps3, software sales gave them profit.

the op does not mention 360.

I think what the point is, if there is one, is that sony might be making better margin than 360?

or maybe 360 spends too much money on the games that come out for it?

i dunno, it seems silly. my original response to the op would be, "nice, it seems they at least know what direction they are supposed to be going in. "
