Forums - Microsoft - Shall I... buy an Xbox 360?

Hey, thanks for the replies people.

For now, I didn't buy one. I went to the shop, checked the games out, and was really tempted, but I decided to sleep on it some nights.

What puts me off from buying it is the extra costs that come with the console. I need to buy a wireless adapter, which is 80 euro's, almost as much as 2 games. Then, I need to buy a charge kit for the controllers. And last, Xbox Live costs money.

Now, I do have the money, so it's not that big a deal, but I will think about it some more and might buy one at a later stage. I really would like to play some Halo 3 and Castle Crashers...

You can use certain wireless bridges and routers to connect the Xbox 360 up to a network much cheaper than the official way and you also get a much higher transmit power.

Tease.

Thats an awesome idea. I've always prefered to kept mine wired but I'm thinking of getting a second 360 for upstairs once jasper hits the shelves. No more cat 5 to run and has the added bonus of bosting signal strenth for the laptops. I'd skip the play and charge kit my recharagables have been short lived baisically you end up with a wired controler after about 6-8 months. Instead of buying another new one think I'll go with reghageable AA's this time.

Buy, reasons:

-LIVE (this fall with private chat/party system for up to 8 persons!)
-Gears of War 2 (everyone should play this game)
-FABLE 2 (you can start practicing how to support a family)

:D

Am I the only one who thinks these 'weekly' 'Should I by console XYZ' posts by someone or the other are complete and utter rubbish? I mean seriously, if you actually care enough about consoles to read and follow a rather hardcore site like this, then I am pretty sure there is NOTHING anyone here can say that will make anyone go 'oh, I hadn't thought about that, well lets buy console XYZ then.'

Seriously the only reason I can see for anyone posting these questions here is that for some reason they need Xbox360, PS3 or Wii fanboys to pat them on the back and swoon over something as lame as their purchasing decisions.

Yeah, definately get it. Especially since you aren't impressed with the PS3.

End of '08 predictions (made by theprof00): PS3: 20m, 360: 23.5m, wii: 42m

Now Playin':  PS3|Resistance 2, LBP, Uncharted and Fifa 09, PSP| Ratchet and Clank: Size matters, 360| Gears of war 2 and Fallout 3.

Of`course you should!
Then HACK it. =)

There are plenty worth trying/downloading x360 games!

p.s.
1. of`course if you don`t care about SCRATCHED DISCs - that often happens with x360 games.
2. and if you are not afraid that after 2-3 years your x360 may get RROD and you won`t be able to play your BOUGHT games.
Then, maybe don`t hack it. =))

Do you have stock in Sony or something?  Just wondering, because thats the only thing that would make your continous negative comments have the slightest thread of logic.

So you have the money for a ps3 that collects dust and you can`t afford a 360 to sit in front of your ps3 and blow the dust off it ? Strange... Anyway,i think Halo 3, Gears 2, Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Halo Wars, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction will keep your ps3 dust free for a long time.

I would get Oblivion, too, but I love wrpgs.

I have no agenda. Whether you do or do not buy a 360 has no benefit to me. If it's an option, rent a 360. Play Gears of War, Mass Effect, and download a few demos. Go to Gametrailers, and watch some comparison videos and trailers. If you like what you see, buy the 360. You already seem well informed. Just do a little more research, and do what's best for you. In the end, no matter how awesome/shitty we think the 360 is, you're the one who will/wont be playing it.

I got mine.

As much fun as I believe you would have with a 360, I also respect your determination to be frugal.
