Oh I see, you were banned.

I swear you made a thread claiming you were leaving VGChartz for good. What happened to that?

Yes I have returned to VGChartz once again and hopefully I can stay around a while. I have served my time two successive bans over the course of the month resulting in a three week absence.

Oh well lets the good times roll. I will help liven up the forum boards with my PS3 Vs X360 threads and other funny threads in Off-Topic.

For the record there will be no Anti-Wii threads or troll comments on the Wii from me. I will try to avoid the Nintendo forums and not mention the Wii.

My strategy plan has changed upon my return. PS3 Vs X360 HD console wars rages on.

I actually have started to see the Wii and PS3 as kind of half allies against the Microsoft Evil Empire.

    Some quick similarities.

Both have been heavily invested in entertainment for well over two decades.  In the early 80s Nintendo was already in the arcades and Sony was making movies/buying up studios and music properties.

Both have trounced Sega twice.  Nintendo did it with the Master System and then the Genesis, then Sony did it against the Saturn and then the Dreamcast.  Tag team ftw!

Both have one of the two best FF games, 6 and 7.

Both use open source browsers and game development kits.  Yes both the PS3 AND the Wii use Open GL to make their games (and Opera and the Sony mobile browser are based on the Mozilla side of things instead of the IE side).

Both contributed major innovations to controllers.  Nintendo added the mass market dpad+buttons+start select controller, Sony moved in dual analog and built in rumble.   Sony added controlling the console via movement (via the eye toy) and Nintendo adapted more exact movements to a controller.   Microsoft made controllers bigger then the biggest hamburger you've ever seen which didn't catch on quite as well.

Both came up with original ideas for alternate personalities via Mii and Home that were not obvious rip offs.

Both have won more then one generation.  In fact in modern video gaming ONLY Sony and Nintendo have won generations (NES, SNES, PS1, PS2).

Sony and Nintendo are also the only two companies to find meaningful success in the handheld market though dozens have tried.   The PSP is headed towards 4 times the lifetime game gear sales and accelerating atm.

Sony and Nintendo both have overconfident men in positions of power.  They really need to get some Sony VPs and Reggie into some kind of spin version of a cage match.''

Sony and Nintendo are also alone among the three in being in video games for the right reasons.  They're both in it to continue a long tradition of making great games that started well before the idea of a connected internet box that would be a gateway to taking over the living room was even a thought.

So yes rock_on_2008 I salute you and join you in developing an appreciation for the Wii and saving all my dislike for the 360.  I picked Nintendo for as many generations as Sony and appreciate their continued participation in video games (I spent half the PS gen with the N64 then switched when FFVII was released, so I'm at 2.5 for each I guess).  Nintendo and Sony are both autobots in opposition to Microsofts evil decepticon empire!

How is adding 2 analogue sticks innovation over the original 1 (main penetration and use via N64 although I believe an earlier system had one... not sure if it was full analogue though (distance +direction) or just directional.

And vague motion sensing has been around longer than the eyetoy.... the Dreamcast had a controller kind of like the Wii's except not so great... the powerglove came before it, (also not so great) and the NES zapper used a camera in kind of the opposite way to what the eyetoy does (Zapper is half way between Wiimote IR and eyetoy)

eyetoy is a good thing though, I do like it.

I'd say the memory card has been a good thing from Sony, although it's not needed so much anymore.

Yes! All hail Rock_On! He is our leader!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
