Forums - Microsoft - GamePro Review: Xbox 360 a good deal at $199

if you purchase an Arcade at 200$ and purchase a separate 60GB hdd that will be available later, it should come about the same price as a 60GB pro. Of course, it won't have hd cables and headset, but that's just extras. So it's not a bad deal at all, especially if people decide to purchase the HDD later.

Well actually the new 60gb stand alone hard drive bundle will include a headset (along with 3 months of Live and an ethernet cable) for $99, so it's not as bad, hehe.

"Then in late October or early November, Microsoft will release a stand-alone 60GB hard drive accessory for $99.99 that will replace the current 20GB option on store shelves. It will also come with a three-month Xbox Live subscription, a wired headset, and an Xbox 360 Ethernet cable."

Eh, I would take the 80 bucks Im saving on it and buy a 60 gig. Whats the point of the Arcade, I mean really. All it really is doing is continuing to screw with developers for the 360 on HDD support.

Oh well, Im still happy with my 20 gig 360, I guess it was the "pro" of its time.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

This almost tempts me to get one, though I have enough trouble finding enough time playing games I already like to play... Maybe next year or something I can scrounge up enough cash to get this for the RPGs.

So sales of X360 will be low until the X360 price drop kicks in America on September 7, 2008.

I expect first week increase from previous X360 sales of 50k to rise to 80 to 90k in America in the first week of the price cut. 30 to 40k increase with sales spike in USA.

I wonder if there is a price cut on the other X360 SKUs in America? Or is it just the Arcade model with the price cut?

How long will the spike in X360 sales be maintained for with the price cut? Time will reveal all.

but in order to play on most halo 3 playlists, you need to download the heroic map pack and that takes up over 500mb. so you do need a hardrive.

Arcade will be $199 (down from $279)

60gb Pro will be $299 (down from $349)

Elite will be $399 (down from $449)

The arcade is getting the biggest price cut, but all of the models are being reduced in price.

it gets people like me interested in the x box 360 without having to mortgage my house to afford one, keep in mind not everyone plays games the same way.

You'll be buying a game / month?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

What are you paying $60.00a month for?  I have one and only pay that for a game which I do get about once a month..

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game
