This work computer is on sattellite internet, and I cannot get through to a BBS on telnet port 23, but my connection keeps timing out. have never worked with a sattellite before, so I have no idea what I'm doing.

I've never worked with satellite internet either, but I'm assuming you can go to web pages with the setup?
If that is so, have you checked if the provider blocks port 23, or if the remote computer even has telnet running? (i know stupid questions, but sometimes those things get the best of ya)
I have no idea if port 23 is open or not, I cannot get into the router at all to look at and/or change any settings.
I can guarentee, however, that the person I am calling has a line open for telnet.

I found a port sniffing site.
Port 23 Timed-out
Weird how it just keeps timing out. I don't think it's blocked, it just times out.
Anyhow, guess im burnt seeing as I can't access the router.
