My Xbox 360 is just 6 months old (Bought in February this year). It was only meant to be a "Halo box", pretty much a fourth system and yet in the end it replaced both my PS3 and my gaming PC.
Before I got the Xbox 360 I hadn't played a JRPG for two years or so and I was pretty much just a Final Fantasy whore so not really a JRPG fan. Since I got the Xbox 360 I've played 3 pretty cool JRPG games - Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon and im keen to play Last Remnant and Infinate Undiscovery before the year is out. These 5 games will take up several hundred hours of my time and there simply aren't any PS3 JRPGs in the same genres to play that I consider worth my time this year. Because of the hours I played and enjoyed JRPGs on the Xbox 360 I just got fond of the system and the controller so thats the reason why I play all the multiplat games on it.
Last year the PS3 was saved somewhat by multiplatform games, like COD IV and others which radically boosted its software lineup to an acceptable level. Now this year for me its drowning in a sea of them. There are a few exclusive games which I would miss if I didn't have a PS3 except there are multiplatform alternatives for all the shooters so really its not something I would worry about. I would probably miss LBP the most but I would be too busy with other games to really care for that loss.
Wow, my PC - replaced. Thats the *Holy Shit!* Moment right there. PC gaming better than console gaming? Not this time. I have always been a PC gamer first and foremost. I have always disliked consoles for being inferior to "The PC" and I wished that all the console gamers could see the light and buy a gaming PC and forget about all that console nonsense. I kinda resented that all these good games came out for consoles and "forced" me to buy a console to play them on an "inferior" platform too!
PC/360 game? I play it on the 360. Its not like I don't have a decent computer its just that I get a better experience on the Xbox 360. I have watched with interest as console controllers and the games themselves have gotten better and better. What would have been considered "good" for a PS2 game last generation would be considered floaty and inprecise this generation. I go back and play a few PS2 games so I get the perspective from it when I come back and play games from this current generation. The controllers are "good" and the graphical differences have hit a point of diminishing returns, so really I don't get enough of an advantage to outweigh the disadvantages of the PC platform so I play the games on the 360.
I used to be PC>PS3>Wii>Xbox 360 but now it's Xbox 360>Wii>PC>PS3. Wow what a change. Thank you Mr Xbox!
