Forums - Microsoft - Major Nelson sneaks in Tip Off of Motion Controller?

I was listening to Major Nelson's latest podcast today. It's show #290. At around 11 minutes and 12 seconds into the show, he and 'e' start talking about the new green controller (with the improved d-pad).

While talking about it, Major talks about the what they call the color of the new controller internally. It is "Revolution Green". Of course we remember that "Revolution" was the code name for what is not the "Wii". And I'm thinking making the green is in regards to the envy Microsoft may have of Nintendo, seeing as the motion control in the "Wii" has led to great success for Nintendo. (The green part is just my humorous angle on this.)

So what do you think? Is this an intentional tip off to a soon to be made announcement of a motion controller?

Well, it's not even coming out here in NA... I'm sure that if it was really a motion controller, it should come out everywhere, right?

Or if you're talking about another announcement after this controller comes out, I doubt it. They might just make custom controllers for different games (Scene It?) anyway.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

No, it's a green colored controller coming out for PES. Has nothing to do with motion control.

what he said

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

I already knew that part. I'm just wondering if the reference is viral in nature. Major has done stuff like that before. One time, there was a picture he posted on his blog. I forget what was in that picture, but no one caught the reveal. He mentioned the photo once an announcement was made though.

I swear, Nintendo's success destroyed some people ability to stand the real world.
They see Nintendo's features everywhere.
Wishful thinking has replaced rational thought for them.
The OP is a good example.

For sure, MS vaporwave tactic still works for lots of people.
But vaporware just can't work in this case, as for the motion sensing to be effective, it needs a big marketing campaign. Don't even think that just releasing a motion controller is enough.
Consumers ("casuals") won't magically know about it, so without that marketing, it will fail.
So don't worry about a MS controller, there's just no point at all.

Before the vaporware motion controller can come out, a huge, even if cryptic, marketing campaign must be launched. There's just no sign of that.

If someone wants a motion controller so badly, the Wii is there and the only viable solution for one.

Also, MS would need to hand out dev kits well in advance. It's not like MS has the capability to make several high profile games via their own internal development teams.

By the time any games came out, the Wii will already have a install base of 50 million motion controllers. You can't compete with that.
